Ouch. Sorry to hear it Gardener. Any chance you can rent it out? Even just for a few months to give yourself a break - head west and get some distance from it maybe?
I hear what you're saying; many have suggested just that. But I don't want to be a landlord and the only thing that could be worse than this albatross around my neck is if it was around my neck on a 1,500 mile-long chain. It will happen. When it's meant to happen. In the meantime I will continue to lovingly care for this 85 year-old charmer that, despite being just a structure, a shell, is still my home and holds twelve (okay, ten pre-bomb) years of love, happiness and good memories for me to say nothing of the 70+ years of history and families before me. When the break does come, it will be a clean break and I will walk away with this chapter completely closed.
But I have jokingly told my brother that my teeth have no more skin on them to hang on by! Yet every month I manage to do it one more time.
And life is good.
