I am at work today and tomorrow, then heading to the wedding on Wednesday. I'll have Thursday to explore, the wedding is Friday. Then be on Oahu thru Wednesday relaxing!

Reserve a cabin on Bellows AFS. They have 1 or 2 bedroom fully furnished cabins with kitchens that sit right on the ocean. Last time I stayed there (in 2008) they were $65 per night. It is definitely THE place to relax.
Hale Koa is nice, and if you are looking for the Waikiki nightlife that's the place to be. Downside is it's crowded, especially the beaches. Bellows is away from the hustle and bustle and tourist areas. It's strictly for military and DoD families and the beaches are much less crowded. When I go to Hawaii I try to split my time up if I can with a couple of days in Waikiki to enjoy what it has to offer and then some real R & R over at Bellows.
Anyway, enjoy your time in the Aloha state - I'm jealous!!
My son and I visited several times to Kailua beach and Lanikai beach which are both very nice and not crowded. The marine base looks like a turtle from those beaches.
If you enjoy having the ocean waves pound you right on to the beach when boogie boarding, pay a visit to Sandy Beach park. I've noticed on several occasions that an amulance was standing by in the parking lot. It is still fun to stop and watch the young people letting themselves get beat up.
