Thanks! He is a great kid. Today is his first day of high school. He isn't showing any nerves but I am sure they are firing!
I asked D11 if she wanted me to go out to the bus stop with her and she asked if it was where her brother waited last year. I said yes and she replied that she's got it. lol (It is right across from our house.)
Ex wrote me a long note about things I already know about. Told me that he offered to let S17 live with him next year so that he might be able to afford KU. Since he would be 19 shortly after school started he said that he told him that he could come and go as he pleased. We definetly have two different ideas on parenting!! Just another example of him not being a parent, or at least not a responsible one. S17 has always been cautious and has maybe only spent the night away from home a couple of times with a friend. Sure he has gone to grandparents, but normally his friends come to him and hang out at our house.
I am a bit worried about how he will handle being away in the first place and I want to continue to provide support and guidance without being overbearing. If he lives with me he plays by the home rules, which he has never had a problem with. Going from one extreme to another is hard. I know from my exchange student days. Lots to think about.
