I can understand that. But, I'm not sure what my alternative would have been?

a) Say NO you can't go. (controlling)
b) Say Yes, go ahead, have fun! (supportive, not controlling)

We have some boundaries in place. She was transparent about it all. I'm just not sure what the better choice would have been.

I would have found away to avoid giving her approval at all. You don't own her, control her, etc.

Maybe something like "It's your decision." (said calmly)
