So, did you like the movie? Or did you just like the leading actor in the production?

To me, the movie was very entertaining but so incredibly hokey. It was definitely a thrill ride, but without a lot of real substance. Turn your brain off and just enjoy the ride. I was both relieved and disappointed in the revelation of what "the big project" was all about. I originally started to think we were watching a remake of the classic "When Worlds Collide", if ya' KWIM. But I was relieved it wasn't (quite) so.

The boys got all excited and concerned about the events and their portent, but I had to explain to them about the particular hyperbole in this sort of genre, the disaster movie (although not in so many words and definitely expressed in a way small boys could grasp.)

Remember the old Irwin Allen sort of big budget disaster movies were were treated to in the '70's? You get the picture.

Your thoughts? Ladies?

To be honest I wouldn't even have thought twice about it without John Cusack. Funny seeing Woody Harrelson there. I am not sure everything would "fall" apart as it did but I am not a scientist so who knows!

So, it was an action flick with some eye candy. Pretty much wraps it up for me. wink

Kat, has it right. Without John Cusack, and I am a big fan of his, I wouldn't watch it. They seemed about to die about every 5 minutes, at first it was very cool I thought when he was driving through the town and through that building (as if a car could outrun that!). But it got exhausting after a while, or maybe I just got tired. But I LOVE John Cusack so I always enjoy anything with him in it. I guess we've seen so many of these don't you know within about 5 minutes the "expendable" ones who won't make it to final credits??? Have the kids tonight so gotta go. Talk to you guys tomorrow? They're back to their dad's tomorrow already! crazy

Why do you only get them the one night? Sorry I was watching a show about Christian the lion. He was born in London but was released into the wild. Sweet story.

D10 and I just watched that too! She's a total Animal Planet fan.

X let me have the kids Sunday night which is traditionally "his" night so we could do some English (S16's virtual school class). He scheduled S16 for dentist appt. tomorrow afternoon and then D10 for OT on Friday. It's easier for him to do less driving and have the kids tomorrow night and then it's his weekend with the kids after that. I think it's a good idea for 2 reasons: he hasn't had any weekends with D10 since she's off her meds, and think it'll be good and maybe shake him out of some of his denial. Also, I'm going out with friends Friday night and Saturday night, so it's good for that reason too. smile

Want another movie suggestion? Something that requires some serious paying attention? LOL. Get "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". FABULOUS! Just went and saw the second one with a group of friends last night, "The Girl Who Played with Fire". They are foreign films based on a trilogy of books by Steig Larsson. The films are in Swedish with English subtitles but on the rental DVD of the first one you can dub it over in English. It's kind of like watching Kung Fu movies. LOL. GREAT STORY!

Mish did you know they are casting for the 1st in that series right now...in English. Daniel Craig will play the lead the guy, a journalist I think. I haven't read them but they might be interesting.
