BBJ, that proves how much you put your kids first. I struggles with the same issue, myself, and I know how hard it is.

Kerry I like that. Reminds me of Shrinky Dinks, which we had as kids. smile She said even if I didn't like it it was not illegal, just disgusting. So unless there was proof the kids saw it there was not much to do. So Dan still doesn't know that I know...

Input requested--I have mentioned before my uncle, MIL's brother, who loves me. This uncle has been very vocal to me of his support for me. He said divorce or not, I am his favorite niece (over Dan's two sisters!)...he thinks Dan is an idiot for letting me go.

Anyway Dan's cousin, this aunt/uncle's son, is getting married in 3 1/2 weeks. I got an invite and fully intend on going. I wouldn't miss it, this uncle and his family has been my family for 18 years and they want me there.

Well, MIL had mentioned last month that she reserved some rooms for the wedding and I was welcome to use one. I am opposed to this because I don't want her to 'own' me. By her history, if I have one of 'her' rooms I will be subject to her plans, schedule, etc. Plus not sure she'd let me pay her and then that would be held over my head. Sad, but the way it is.

ANYway, I texted Uncle to ask which hotel they had listed on invite bc I can't find my invite! (Cleared off counter when company came and I am still tracking down some things...)

Well Uncle replied back right away and said to call his wife/my aunt at home, she would have the info. Then he texted a few minutes later saying yes Aunt had the info but they would like me and the kids to just stay at their house.

I DON'T like this idea because:
1)They are parents of the groom and I don't want them worried about me on the wedding day/night (granted they are low key people)

2)I like hotels smile

I LIKE this idea because
1)Most likely will annoy the crap out of MIL
2) Most likely will annoy the crap out of Dan
3)See 1 and 2 smile
4)If they want me to stay with them, I would like to honor their decision since it is their kid's wedding.

There is no question I am going to the wedding, I would not miss it. Only question is where I sleep that night after the wedding.

Well grandpa (in law) called this morning to see how I am doing, apologized for not calling more, etc. He will not be at the wedding bc he and grandma are just getting too old to travel, in his words. They each fell this summer, he got black eye, she got stitches. Both are stubborn and insist on staying in their house in the country even though assisted living would prob be a better fit.

Anyway grandpa made mention that last he heard MIL and "her whole crew" were going to camp out in Uncle's basement for the wedding. Apparently MIL called uncle and said that if the hotel rooms were only $50 the place must be a dump and she wasn't staying there. It is actually sad that grandpa has such low regard for his own daugther.

Anyway if there is chance in Hell that MIL and her brood are staying at the house, I am definitely getting a hotel! I don't want to get sucked into her big plans ever again...

Good choice on getting your own hotel room.

Do you think you could survive on a life raft at sea if the other 2 occupants were your mother and ex MIL?
