Btw, I had a really good day today. After doing my dishes for the week and changing my roomies aquarium water I decided, on a whim, to head out of town to watch a baseball game in the afternoon. I got to the stadium/park and the lot was full and the cops were ticketing cars on the street. I did find a place to park in the lot which really wasn't a parking place but I wasn't driving another hour and a half home without seeing the darn game! I sat with some really nice people in the stands, had some good conversation and the game was close...and my car didn't get towed! So, all in all it turned out to be a good afternoon, the rain even stayed away aside from a few sprinkles here and there. Got home in 1.25 hours, not bad. So tomorrow it's out of town again with the girls for our family picnic. I'll let you know how it goes.
I just got back from the family picnic. It was a beautiful day and we were having a wonderful time until D13 suddenly got dizzy in the food lineup, started sweating profusely and almost collapsed. Her head and back were really hot, so we sat her down and my aunt, who was a nurse, put cold compresses on her and took her pulse. Afterwards D lay down in the back seat of the car for half an hour while I stayed with her. Apparently, in the food line she'd told D16 that her stomach was bothering her. Anyway, we ended up leaving two hours early because I wanted to get her home. On the way home she said "Daddy, I'm sorry you had to leave the picnic early", that's my kid. Even when she's sick she's still thinking of others. So, on the way home she came to life and began joking and waving at cars and was her old self. We stopped in at her mothers (I'd already phoned STBX to tell her what was going on) to pick up D's health card and a thermometer (yes, for some reason we still share the ear thermometer!) STBX said to D "you scared me, y'know. i was really scared" and and D replied "I was scared too, y'know" Then STBX told her a bit harshly to sit down while she took her temp. and D16 says "you don't need to talk to her like she's in trouble or something" Whew, these two girls don't take any crap from their mom, it's refreshing to see! So, D13 seems to be OK, she's resting in her room reading a wrestling magazine. I'll be keeping tabs on her. My aunt thought it was the flu and I tend to agree, her nose is somewhat stuffy as well. I too was scared, I've never seen my D like that but then half an hour later she's back to herself. Now, as far as the picnic, it was so nice to see my relatives and it's like I saw them yesterday. We all sat and talked and I'm sorry I couldn't stay longer. So, that's my day. Please keep D13 in your prayers. Thanks.
Hey wii, sounds like a weird day a bit good and bit bad but glad to hear D13 is good. Had she been drinking enough water etc? Stomach flu can also do weird stuff so keep an eye on her to make sure she's good.
No big deal on the picnic, set up another one next one- everyone loves picnic. The kids grow up so fast...these are the times you and they will remember forever. Great work dad!

Thanks Romeo. It was a shame we had to leave as the girls actually were excited about going. D13 brought her running shoes "in case I choose to partake in some games". She was ready for fun! To be honest, as she was lying in the back seat, I was sitting beside her stroking her head and I was really scared. I'd never seen her like this before so suddenly. I lost a friend about six months ago to a brain tumour and that still sits in my mind. I may just take her to the doctor tomorrow anyway just to get her checked out. Today she seems fine but is still a little tired and not very hungry.
Funny story from yesterday. At the picnic D16 had one of her same aged relatives hitting on her! I mentioned to STBX that D had been "getting to know her relatives". D16 told wife the story and then D13 laughed and said "and he's family" D16 replies "that's what makes it so disgusting" and D13 replies "that's what makes it so funny for me!" Wife says to D16 "well, never stop shopping" and D16 says "OMG Mommy, I can't believe you just said that!". In the car D16 says "OMG Daddy, what if she was thinking that way while she was with you!" Little does she know!
We just got back from the doctor's where she gave D13 a good check up. She also did an ECG and took her blood pressure. Everything is fine. She didn't do a blood test because D13 balked at it and doctor said D didn't seem anemic so it wasn't really necessary at this point. Anyway, she said it was probably a combination of a viral infection, the heat and that time of month. So, I'm glad I took her just to rule out anything worse. doctor says if it happens again she'll have to have a blood test and a few other tests. But we hope this is the end of it. Hopefully, tomorrow she'll be back at gymnastics training.
Wii, that's awesome you brought her in! because they're girls and their mom's still around you would think she'd offer to take them in? But who needs her when they have you! good work again dad!
Yeah how about that? D16/STBXW/shopping thing...what a wise thing to say to D16 lol. So what did you say to D16 when she asked about STBXW possibly thinking that way when she was with you?

Thanks Romeo. Just a quick update. My Dad woke up yesterday morning and could barely walk. My brother, who had a day off, took him to the doctor where he got some powerful pain killers and anti-inflammatories. He also went for an x-ray on the hip and doctor will decide whether to send him to a surgeon or a Rheumatologist. We'll see. He's had this problem off and on before but not this severe. So, life just skips along in the merry world of Whatis. Btw, D13 went back to gymnastics training and did five hours with no difficulty. I'd phoned the head coach to see if D arrived, as she buses, and to ask them to take it easy on her today. D said it was fine except for a small headache that went away.
Oh, funny story from last night. STBX phones to talk to the kids and D13 is listening to her go on and on about some nagging thing and finally says "look, if you're gonna continue to talk like this I'm just gonna put the phone down, it's up to you" I asked D later what was going on and she explained Mom was nagging her about her sleep habits. Apparently after D said the above STBX replied "OK, I'll finish tomorrow night" That woman is just like a train, she must say what she must say and nothing will stop her whether the kid is listening or not! At least D13 got her to make a short station stop along the way!
A busy weekend for Whatis...and nothing bad happened for a change! Saturday I went with my girls and their mother to the Royal Ontario Museum to see the Terracotta Warriors exhibit and afterwards we took in a Greek Festival for the evening. We got home about 10:00 pm. Yesterday I went to church in the morning and out to dinner with my best friend in the evening. My Dad is doing better but still needs a cane to walk. My daughter hasn't had a fainting episode all week so that's positive. Anyway, back to another work week. Just thought I'd say hi...so hi!
