"I told the XO you weren’t going and need the orders ASAP. I’ll hit up [BN staff NCO] on Monday to check on the status of the orders. If necessary, I will do memos on unit letterhead with my signature block if BDE is slower than Wednesday.
And yes, it should not have been this hard, but I’ve never seen anything like this. I actually had less problem moving an entire BN back from OCONUS.
Will status you on Monday."
I was confused by the "weren't going" part, so I e-mailed back this: (definitely getting bitchier)
"Aren't going to what? AT? Work?
I agree it should have been easier. And I don't see why this turned into a big deal.
But I also think it's perfectly rotten of them to change their minds 6 days out and expect us to somehow make it work."
He called me in response to reassure me that he is going to get us partials so we can still go to Hawaii.
I feel like we're having two different conversations. A partial is better than having to cancel Hawaii, but why can he not understand I don't want to go at all? Rotten is telling me I have to go to AT on less than a week's notice, not just the fact that it could mess up my plans to attend my buddy's wedding. This is too short a notice to be yanking me away from my real job!
