I am glad it helped.

Just one idea... if you can sell it to your daughter... How about fruit? If instead of big, fattening 'pasta' and 'burritos' you sell the idea of fruit being non-fattening to your daughter she might be more willing to eat. I am not talking apples and watermelon here. Bananas, avocados, dates, figs could be mixed in... Remember 1 banana has the calories of a half bagel, without the 'guilt' factor. Check this table for more ideas on acceptable combinations for your daughter...

Again, I am no expert on ED here... but I thought it might be an idea...

Well, the problem is she wants to eat fruit and exclude those other things. She's not too obsessed with "good" versus "bad" foods yet. But to her, eating the banana instead of the bagel is dieting. (and since the bagel was smothered in butter, it DID have more calories ). We actually don't have much in the way of junk food in our house, and she's always eaten a varied and healthy diet - never been a picky eater like my boys are. She loves avocados and I keep them around for her - good healthy fats. I'd actually like to try stocking more "enticing" foods (my kids love junk cereal which I never buy for them unless we are on vacation skiing) just to get her calorie intake up in the short term, but I don't want her to feel like I am "tricking" her into eating either, so i will have to be subtle about it.

Well, since the underlying problem is control, not actually the food she eats... Maybe if you let her control the actual food items she eats as long as it provides the number of calories you want her to have... it might make it easier for her to avoid purging... JMHO

Another thing... have you checked her thyroid? Many people with bulimia are depressed... The triggering factor in your D's case may well have been your family's past conflict, but that would be a diagnosis of exclusion...

Actually had both her and older brother checked last spring for thyroid disease because of the strong pattern in my family - completely normal, no thyroid antibodies either, so that's pretty unlikely, although I will ask that they include it in her bloodwork.
