Thanks for all the new Year's wishes, everyone

Had a nice low-key New Year's. Took the kids and spent the night at a friend's beach cottage with some other couples. H and D got some good surfing in on new Year's Day (too cold for me!). The couple who hosted it are old friends - he's an ex-student of mine from the time I taught organic chemistry in summer school at the junior college. We met up a few years later when I was a resident and he was a physical therapist; I was married, he was engaged, and our spouses hit it off. My H is their youngest child's godfather

Why I Am Mad At Harrison Ford

Of course, you all know he left his wife of many years and is out gallivanting around with the emaciated Callista Flockhart. Well, I read that his wife finally filed for divorce after 2 years of separation. Yet another weenie MLCer who makes the LBS finally do the dirty work of filing.

Okay, done venting!

Now it's back to reorganizing the house!

Okay, my list of loser WAS that really screws up my entertainment likes and dislikes:

Harrison Ford
Tom Cruise (A with Penelope while stile M to Nicole... no explanation to Nicole)
Sting (A while married to first wife)

pigs, all.

On the brighter side - I had a dream about Bruce Willis last night. He was sitting with my H and I, and I was telling him how sorry I was about his marriage failing. He started getting teary-eyed. It was pretty clear he's waiting for Demi to wake up from this Ashton Kutcher fantasy!

Oh yeah - and now even Seabiscuit is screwed up for me - because unlike the movie, which implies Howard's first wife left him - the book makes it clear he was still married when he began his affair with the older sister of one of his son's wives! Imagine his poor LBS - first she loses a son to a tragic accident, then her H has his MLC and marries a younger woman who she had probably treated as FAMILY, and then gets famous so she has to read about H and OW in the papers all the time.

I must admit, this whole DB experience makes me realize how skewed our media coverage of divorce is.

My favorite Weenie Head award has to go to.....Jack Nicholson. I remember seeing an interview with Angelica Houston about how they had been together for years and then she reads in the paper how he had a new girlfriend. A Weenie Head and a Coward too!

True about the way Hollywood has set a bad standard, but have you noticed a new trend, i.e. One Hour Photo and Phonebooth?

Yeah - I loved Phonebooth!!! Didn't know the theme when I rented it though - think it made H a little uncomfortable!

To anybody out there who hasn't seen it - the guy who is pinning the other guy in the phone booth justifies it because the guy in the phone booth is a slime who is cheating on his wife Script must have been written by a LBS - hey, maybe it was Harrison Ford's wife - she's a screenwriter!

Ellie,
You kill me. The only defense for Nicholson is he wasn't married... Yes, I just started the Seabiscuit book. I think the director/writer is more of a family man, and wanted to make that less of an issue in the movie.

We should come up with a list of LBS-safe movies... good start with One Hour Photo and Phonebooth.

Hey Ellie,

Would you mind heading up to Newcomers and checking in on STR8NDUP? You're way more experienced in his troubles than I am...

Thanks!

Oh Ellie! ....me too!

I have written a draft of the note I want to send H, as he asked me what I thought of his SMS message... can't believe that I am airing this most private of messages on the internet but I did test things by typing some words into a Google search, but it doesn't seem to come up with anything from the Divorce Busting site's BB. Does anyone know if you can bring up stuff from here in a casual internet search?

Ellie, you sound a little similar to me in a way - I was rather more active in my twenties and early thirties, cycling and stuff, but a couple of years after the birth of D I started having chronic lower back problems, and that really affected so many areas of my life - made me inexplicably (to others) grumpy, less interested in you know what, less active at times etc. And my H actually RESENTED my bad back, in so many words, rather than show an ounce of sympathy or concern or love.

Amazingly, the last few days I have got out of bed in the morning ache and pain and stiffness free!
