Not to go off puppy-topic but I found this and thought it insightful to what most of us are dealing with trying to understand:
"An affair, whether online or off, quite often has less to do with a pure attraction between the people involved, and more to do with the holes in their lives that need filling."
This might explain why the OP isn't necessarily better looking then the LBS...and obviously some of the MLC'ers have more "holes in their lives that need filling" then others have.
