Hey Wii,

FB is just for fun anyway. I change my status daily which some think is just silly but it helps me keep track of what I'm up to. lol!

lots of friends from the bb are on fb - MAYBE you can find us. You know my first name and my last name starts with the name of Barbie's boyfriend followed by yeres. If you can figure that out - you can ask to be my friend on FB. Are you a good detective???

Wii, I have to warn you...once you have a couple of DB friends added to your network you'll start getting requests to add the other 50+ or so DB friends...but hey the more the merrier, right? smile

I have about 74 friends, and only about 6 or 7 are from DB site. I kept them to a minimum ... only the ones I had been in contact with for more than a year or two, and I think a couple are from my early days when I really needed DB help, a long time ago. I like FB for the photo albums, and to keep up the news for family and friends back home (I am an immigrant Canadian) and those who moved to other countries ... very useful tool. One just has to make sure you have some security as to who can read your stuff. And, I don't put addresses, or tel. nrs, etc. onto my fb page. I also have my children as "friends" and that is a good resource to see what's happening in their lives 'cause they don't always tell you much, especially the teen.

Anyway, hope you are feeling much better, Wii. Take care.

Wii, how's your brother doing? How old is he if I may ask?

BTW, I heard the BP oil spill is causing all sorts of problems for the turtle eggs along the beaches which are getting ready to hatch so they're relocating them to the Atlantic. Thought you might want to know...in case you don't get Turtle Times Daily grin

Brother is doing OK. He told me he has a few issues to clean up at home before making a decision. He's also at a new job and wants to make sure he clears probation before he makes any decision. He's lived in such a sh!tty situation for so long I think he just forgets how sh!tty it is. He told me he felt he'd been doing well with it up until now and I said "you are doing well, but you are just surviving. It's like a soldier in the battle field, you do what you have to do to survive but it's afterwards you deal with all the fallout. This is same thing and the longer you stay the more of you self esteem and confidence chips away" Again, I told him it's his life and his decision to make but, in my mind, enough is enough! We'll see where this goes. Sometimes when you see yourself as strong, as I did, you put up with way more crrap than you should or is really healthy for you. You start to get off on being "Superman" the guy who can handle anything. It's not a good syndrome to get caught up in but sometimes it's just hard to know where to draw the line. Been there, done that.

I can't even imagine how I'd act after seeing something like that. It must be so hard emotionally and of course being a guy he probably will keep 50% of it inside.

Hope he sorts his stuff out and does whatever works out in his favor. I just feel for the guy.

What's new with you? After 2.5 years how do you see things and where do you see yourself in the next 6mos to a year?

Well, I'm hoping to start riding turtles professionally in the rodeo circuit, It's just hard to find a saddle that really fits well. Later I'd like to travel to Europe for the yearly Run With The Turtles event they hold there, you know where they let thousands of turtles out onto the street and people run with them. The green gunk on the roads makes it that much more challenging.
Actually, my goal is to work on getting my energy back and get a grip on the low level anxiety that sits there day in and day out. When I have energy I'm much more confident and have all sorts of things I'd like to do but, honestly, I've done a sh!tty job of taking care of myself this way. When I separated I think part of me said "Whew, that's over now I can relax!" Uh uh, the next stage is just as stressful only in a different way. I spent all my time burning myself out running from event to event feeling so proud that nothing was keeping me down but I forgot to refuel the tank and it kind of ran out of gas (take note CTH!). So for the next few months I'm really gonna try to do some relaxing things like Yoga, Qi Gong, meditation and prayer. It's time to give that a bigger part of my life rather than just go go go! I'm also considering the Cognitive Therapy idea because over the last year a lot of fearful, out of synch thoughts have streamed into this old brain but money is always an issue as my work insurance plan covers sweet piss all (if you have some kind of emotional or family crisis my employer will toss $200 bucks to a Psychologist per year, that's maybe 1-2 sessions with a generous Psych....such caring!)! There's always the temptation to do it myself, as I work in the mental health field, but that's usually a stupid choice. Come to think of it, that's what my wife did when she went for counselling "why should I pay her money, I can get the book and do it myself"...yeah, that worked out well! OT also mentioned a book that might be helpful in "re-inventing" myself. Anyway, gotta run as the Running With The Turtles application deadline is drawing near.
Thanks for asking, Romeo!

Hello What,

Always the joker, aren't you? I can't keep up with all of them; they are too numerous. I think the cognitive therapy might be good, but only you can judge that, and I believe you, when you say you are capable of making those choices.

I will say, getting one's energy back is a fab idea. I need to take that advice also. I plan to start swimming. And come Fall, maybe even bike riding. Can't do it now; it's a hundred degrees (or nearly so) every day.

I hope your thread doesn't die like mine did. LOL.

hugs going out to you.

Thanks for dropping by, Poet! I'll bet you are tired, we all get tired and tend to keep on going, it's what we're used to doing. So biking and such will be really important for you to do. I gave up much of my physical stuff, just got lazy and figured I was on top of everything. I'm trying to bring that aspect of my life back into some perspective again. Exhaustion can just creep up on you, so do what you gotta do to keep it at bay! smile
