BeingMe, You have been through so much; weight loss if your dr. says not to is probably not a good focus.

But if it's OK to exercise, then it is certainly a good stress relief and energy booster.

I do not focus on weight loss at all. I am fairly slim naturally so it wasn't a goal anyway, but I do feel kind of lumpy. I've lost some of the lumpiness and my arms even look a little cut now. A friend of mine told me to focus on how the exercise makes you feel rather than the scale.

This is good advice; if I were going for weight loss I think I would be more frustrated. Instead I look forward to having the good feeling. It is easier to stay motivated that way.

The other thing that has helped me is the "What would I be doing otherwise?" thought. I do not like cardio. But I remind myself that it's only 10 minutes; otherwise I'd just be watching TV or on the computer or doing something else that is not all that important to do. After all, it is only 10 minutes.

That's how I started--then I'd add a few minutes here or there.
