Yes, he did get tested and everything came back fine. He said he had used protection and it was only one time, but I did insist on him being tested as a precaution for myself.

Usually, when one spouse is wayward like yours, it is some combination of:
- a way to maintain control over you
- a way to "test", in her own mind, if she still has "in love" feelings for you, as she compares you to the giddy rush she's getting from OM
- she's "tagging" you
- texting and chatting, etc., with OM gets her worked up into a frenzy, for which you are the lucky recipient.
