Sorry FFH. That is a hefty tax bill for sure. In my town, you can make payments on the taxes. I think 1/2 in January or February and 1/2 in July. Not sure if that would help in your situation or not. Selling outright in this market sucks, but you have to look at it like if the value of your home is depressed right now, so is the value of anything else you are going to buy. If your home value recovers, so will all the others, so do what you need to do to keep moving.

I am worried about the same things. Think about all of the doubling of expenses that now have to be paid. I'm not sure if I am going to be able to hang onto my house at this point either or am going to have to downsize just to stay afloat. Either way, I feel like life is just going to get exponentially harder. One guy I know figures he will have to live like a college student until his 3 kids get older. He is paying 31% of his gross pay in child support to his wife.

What a waste of time, emotions and money for something she will likely ultimately regret in the end......
