That vacation would disappoint me too. Interesting to hear your WAS best friend's comments about keeping in contact. Sometimes I think both is no-win. They resent if you do, resent if you don't. Maybe I've grown too cynical.
N8: Black best friend: "Are you serious? Oh, hell no. [edited] this mother [edited]."
Since this is more like my neighbors in my neighborhood, I have to go with her. ditto.
Email and text is the best venue for cowards, is it not?
I also agree with most of the "[censored] your dad says."
Sorry this is going on.
Another thought: I just had lunch with a friend who had a similar situation and D (though not as crazy as mine, but a little) about 7 years ago. She said, "OMG, girl! Your life is just like mine was." And she is fine and happier now. So there's that.
In closing, to quote the "[censored] your grandma says": "WHAT? His mama's never gonna die?"

I don't think you're too cynical. It's just the way it is. Sometimes there's nothing you can do that will please a person. It's the "[edited] if you do, [edited] if you don't." Ugh.

Ha! It IS pretty funny, huh?

Oh, it absolutely is! The more I think about it, the more ridiculous it seems. WHO WOULD SEND THIS INFORMATION IN AN E-MAIL?????

Yes, his comments are classic. An angry father has MANY thoughts.

Thank you. Me, too!

Thank you for sharing this. It's hard to think that ANYTHING will ever be okay again, but I know that's not true. It's good to know that there's life on the other side of this hell.

Oh, I can't WAIT to sit down and tell her about the new development. She and boyfriend have been shacked up at his house since all this happened, so she hasn't heard any of it yet. This will be very interesting.
MORE COMMENTS AND DEEDS FROM CARING FAMILY MEMBERS-----
Saintly uncle: "So he still loves you, huh? He just loves himself more, I guess." Also, "He's changed jobs a lot. His whole life, this boy's gonna be searchin'. Then tell him to go on. Go search somewhere else."
Sister arrived at my home yesterday evening for some merriment and to provide some support. She very thoughtfully arrived with a bottle of wine (for the two of us to share, of course) and six empty boxes (for H). Neighbors likely thought we were crazy (though they already have their thoughts about me)--she and I cackled and howled as she pulled the boxes from the backseat of her car and threw them into the driveway.
15-year-old half brother's contribution: [makes much more sense if you're familiar with the Harry Potter series] brother no longer speaks of H by his given name. He now refers to him as "He-who-must-not-be-named." I laugh every time I think of it.
