Sorry to hear about Nathan. I am still going to get around to doing great wolf lodge. They also have the new waterpark nearby, don't ask me to spell it. Sounds like it will be really cool once it is all done.

Bad memories...just a blip on the radar.

Schlitterbahn! I want to go there, too. But would not want to keep track of a 4 yr old at a place like that. Think I'd go with a group of adults.

I am looking forward to a deck chair and some sun poolside one of these days. Preferably with a margarita.

Went to a work conference last summer. It was held at a hotel/convention center on Storm Lake. Huge lake with biking trails, a sun deck, great restaurant, and an indoor/outdoor water park. I had so much fun all by myself. That's where I rented a bike for a 15 mile ride, and read Boundaries in Marriage on a deck chair overlooking the lake.

I was all pumped up for this year's conference next week. This time in a different city. Just got hotel confirmation from school, another hotel with a water park but in Des Moines. Got hopeful but looked it up and consists of a pirate ship-themed set of waterslides and a kiddie play structure. No offense, don't want to be surrounded by other people's kids if I don't have my own! wink Was hoping for an outdoor pool or at the least a sun deck. No such luck. Maybe I will bring golf clubs and hit a driving range instead.

SO busy with Nathan (yep back to 102.7 again... frown ) forgot to mention a little Dan weirdness.

So he didn't know we were going to KC bc frankly I didn't know. Last I heard from him was Sunday night texting that he was keeping kids bc they had fallen asleep on the way home from Toy Story 3. He stressed leaving at 4:30 a.m. for flight to Canada.

At 11:00 he sends a message. "Nathan's uniform is in the zipper on the side of his equipment bag." [He was supposed to have a game last night.] Then, "Hope Dad gave you his hat, or it is on the knob of the steps in my entryway."

I replied "Got everything thanks doubt there will be game with all the rain though." (Didn't tell him where we were going don't know why felt like we were playing hooky or something.)

Then 15 minutes later out of the blue. "There is some orange chicken and beef fried rice in my fridge." A minute later "It's yours if you want it." Then, "Kids and I didn't eat much and it will be bad by Wednesday when I get back."

Ummm....hello? Offering me leftovers? That would be great if we were buddies or roommates... I replied, "Thx for offer but I do not have key to your house."

A bit later we got to KC and I decided I should tell him bc his parents had called and left me a vm asking about the game and whether it was still going to be played. So I replied to them that Nathan wouldn't be there (they DID have a game, crap!). Anyway I knew kids would tell him anyway so I texted him we were at Great Wolf as I thought game would be rained out. I know I shouldn't give a sh!t yet I was braced for a rant about blowing off baseball. He pulled total 180 on me. Asked if I let the coach know not to expect him. I said yes. Then he replied back, "Ok have fun." WHo is this guy?

Then he texted again at nine "How is KC". I had kids call him. Nathan told him he had a fever so he asked to talk to me, asked me what was up what symptoms, etc.

So anyway just different. Sad that I expected him to be pissed, isn't it!?

Sweetie, I think it's sad that Dan has so much access to you.

I'm surprised he doesn't go into sugar shock from all the cake-eating.

BBJ - I know happily married people who don't keep in touch as much as Dan does with you! The man really is trying to keep you on a leash. Jeesh!!

Why would he want me on a short leash? No, really, I am serious. What does he get out of it? He wanted a divorce, he got one. He has his own house and his own life. He could have a dozen girlfriends for all I know having sex with him 24/7 when he doesn't have the kids. I don't cook for him, clean for him, pay his bills, anything anymore. So what is the point in him keeping contact?

So survived another night with Nathan. Still hovering around 102 this morning so I think a trip to the doctor in order. He also came in while I was still asleep and told me he threw up in the bathroom this morning. I went to see (probably weird smile ) but he had already flushed it away. Happy Hump Day. No, really, poor kid.

Oh and the saddest thing. He was sleeping w/me last night so I could keep an eye on his fever without getting up (lazy me)...he woke up at 6:30 and said he had a bad dream. He was at one of his baseball games and was swinging the bat wrong and not hitting the ball. His dad got mad and started hitting him and kicking him and yelling at him in front of everyone. What a terrible dream for my boy to have! frown

Regarding the short leash - speculating here but two reasons come to mind: First, some men have an attitude of I may not necessarily want you but I don't want anyone else to want you either - so in his mind as long as he can maintain frequent contact with you it sort of keeps you on his hook (maybe hoping for reconcilliation) and not necessarily available to others. Second thought is maintaining the constant contact with you allows him to "keep" his family without having to really live with his family - basically cake eating.

Sorry to hear Nathan is still sick - that can't be fun to be running a high fever in this summer heat. Also, if you ever doubted that Dan's excessive criticism of Nathan's baseball skills are effect him, that dream pretty much puts it to rest. Dan really needs to back off from that immediately. Dan - just let the boy play and enjoy the game for God's sake!!!
