Thanks guys. Tree was big probably 40 feet tall, not huge but big enough. It fell in the empty lot behind my house. The ground is so wet it didn't even make a big thud when it hit the ground...
Rain continues, lost power an hour ago but only for a minute...
BBJ, I had no idea you lived in SoCal, we're good now - no more farm jokes from me
And near Pasadena no less, such a cool, historic, loafers and shorts town.

Loafers and shorts town!!! That's such a perfect description! One of my best friends grew up in Pasadena. I'm an Orange County girl so we were always ribbing each other about beach culture versus 'real' culture. She always thought Pasadena was more cultured. It's always been a battle to change her thinking! LOL

I think she got nostalgic and went looking for loafers and shorts in Nebraska

Nope, got fed up with all the rain. Decided at 9 to get out of town and kids and I were on the road by 10:30. Took them to Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, KS. We'd been there once before when we lived in Kansas City. I bought a night there at the benefit auction for my uncle last August but hadn't used it yet.
So we took off to KC for an afternoon/evening at the water park. Planned to head back this morning around 10 so I could make it to class.
But then around 6:30 Nathan was complaining of headache, being super cold, and belly pain. He actually threw up around noon on the way there, when we stopped for lunch. Chalked it up to motion sickness from playing a Leapster game in the car...
Got him to T Rex (awesome restaurant we went to a dozen times when we lived there) and he didn't want to eat, was crying at the table. Turned down ice cream. I bought a thermometer in the lobby and he was 102.7. UGH!!!!
So we spend two hours in the room drinking water and taking Tylenol. He perked up at 9:30 so we went and played a Magiquest game where you buy a wand and go on missions around the hotel collecting stones...Went to bed at midnight.
This morning he was perky, we had breakfast, did 2 more missions on top of the 4 we did last night. Then checked out but you could still do the water park. So we did for 2 hours. At that point time to shower and he was feeling bad again. Temp was back to 102 so we stopped at Target for some medicine and came home. Very hit and miss.
We drove past our old house on the way down there. The place we lived for 3 years, where we made and had Sydney and where Nathan got to play with his dog and our cattle. It was bittersweet with so many memories....good ones and bad ones of OW and all that came with that.
In fact it was the time we went to Great Wolf three years ago that I first knew for sure there was a serious problem in my marriage. I had been suspicious since late May/early June. The trip was in August. We were there Fri/Sat/Sun with Dan's family and each day he had to leave to do cattle chores. But he would be gone for like 3 or 4 hours which was definitely not needed to run drop some hay and water for the cattle. I knew something was definitely up. He wouldn't answer the phone while he was gone, he was defensive about everything and tried picking fights with me when he was there. His family noticed it was that bad.
I remember driving back to my house that day I took a long winding route while the kids both slept, tired out from the weekend. That is when I realized that my marriage was in serious trouble and may not recover, even though I didn't 'prove' and OW until November.
Oh well water under the bridge. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have booted him out of the house or took the kids and left as soon as I got that gut feeling. But, too late to worry about that now.
Time to do some laundry and catch up on work for class. I lost 5 points for missing today but Nathan was feeling better this morning so I wanted him to have time in the water before we went home. Hate to drive that far and spend all our time in the room!
You left us! You're lucky your thread didn't get trashed, but then "Survivors" is a little more civilized these days. Your Cards are beating the Jays tonight heading into the ninth!
It was GREAT, Mish! He was sick but we still had a few hours of fun yesterday swimming, then last night playing MagiQuest. This morning was fun too, just that stupid fever kept popping up. I swear it is related to his allergies and chlorine.
Oh and the memories thing was fleeting. Like 20 minutes total, ten on the way down and ten on the way back. Just being back at "the scene of the crime", in our own town. We pass directly through Platte City on the way to Kansas City. Platte City was the town we lived outside of for three years, where we went shopping, to the library, Y, etc. Tons of good memories there too. After all it's where Sydney was born!!! And where Nathan went from toddler to big kid.
