Me thinks she has a screw or two loose. Perhaps the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, though one could hope. Yikes! I don't envy you that ride home.

Now, the good thing is that when she has these tantrums she tends to burn herself out and by the time we head home she's a happy camper again. But,I don't think the boss will put up with it much more nor should she.
