Lotus, I also was having second thoughts on whether my mom should be there for the birth. But then I decided that my son wasn't just about me- he was a new addition to our whole family and my mom's first grandchild! So I decided to let it happen (I think I was also nervous about her being in the same room as WH). She was fantastic!! I feel relieved that I let her be there.
But Gatsby--unfortunately, some moms bring it on themselves if they are too "difficult" or whatever reason you have!
Ok so how was the massage? Have you had any braxton hicks?? Countdown!

Yeah, the mom thing is huge with me. Lots of issues, lots of baggage, what my therapy is 95% about. Not your normal mom-daughter relationship. So, yeah. Just had therapy today and I have some strategies.
Anywayz!
The massage! Okay, well first, this is one of the top 10 resorts in America. So everything was EXPENSIVE. I had a $225 gift certificate and I still spent $48 over. On a massage and pedicure. You'd think for that price you'd feel like a celebrity. But it was just like any other massage and pedi, I'd say! It was good, don't get me wrong. But sometimes I think expensive stuff is just lost on me. . .
There were also a ton of housewives in there just reclining at the spa. . . I kinda rolled my eyes at them. Rich 'desperate' housewives!
I don't know what braxton hicks feel like, but I have had cramping! And then these weird sharp shooting pains very low.
My due date is this week and I'm pushing all those pressure points and visualizing and all that! Come on, girl!!
In other news, WH texted me yesterday and today asking how I was and if he could get me anything. I wrote back both times that I couldn't think of anything he could get me! I don't know what he's thinking, but whatevs. I guess I just hope he feels guilty!
Things are about to change up big time. . . just trying to anticipate the changes now. I can't believe this is happening. I imagined (if I have an epidural, which I probably will) the doctors telling me it was time to push. And I had a little freak out just imagining it! So I have to keep processing that. This is really happening!
Thanks for dropping by, all of you. Talk to you later!

SAME HERE! I buy my make up at Rite Aid!

I think braxton hicks feel like cramping- we should ask Piano since she just had her baby! I remember I went in because I fell (I didn't think I needed to go in but my doc said to be safe...) and they said I was having contractions but I had thought it was S kicking me! But the shooting pains could be your cervix getting ready! oops hope this talk isn't TMI...but we are grown ups.

I am so not worried about you- you are both tough AND optimistic! Does it feel like you are a little kid and Christmas is coming? You are about to meet your little girl!

Does it feel like Christmas is coming? No! And that worries me a bit! I tend to see things with a lot of responsibility, I guess. So I am a little anxious about breastfeeding, "being there", etc.
I haven't had any baby anxiety dreams recently. But in my life I have OFTEN had dreams where I forgot about my baby to its detriment. That I realized I hadn't fed it in a few days or didn't know where it was, etc. So I would say I'm a little more apprehensive than excited!
I AM excited to see what she looks like. And to get this next phase of life started.
But, I think my optimism will win through after a while. . . thanks, NM!
So during your contractions you thought S was kicking you? That's kinda what's happening with me. I think she must be pounding with her fists or something. . . yeah, Piano, how would you describe Braxton Hicks? (I hope it's my cervix getting ready!)
Ha ha, WH, guilt guilt guilt guilt guilt! (That's supposed to sound like a chant.) It's sad that I think it's funny. But I knew it would happen, and here it is. I hope he can get over it and get back to a sane place in his head. I do. But if he can't, I hope he's guilty every day.
K, goin to do a last check of threads and then bed!
Hi there, well I had braxton hicks for months before baby was born. overall tightening of the uterus. you can tell because when they are happening and you poke your tummy with a finger, it is ROCK HARD. Then two minutes later (when they have passed) your belly is softer again.
When a contraction comes on, you'll know it! lower pelvic period-like pain at the front, usually settling in the lower back. they they start off far apart and not long in duration, and then come more often and last longer. you know when you are having one cos you can't talk comfortably and have to concentrate on breathing.
I agree shooting pains very low could be the cervix getting ready. normally your waters break or you have a "show" (the mucos plug comes out). You may also have the runs, or feel really tired just before (or really energetic!).
I lost the 'plug' just after eating a curry dinner. So curry works!
G, I am waiting for your little girl to come with excited anticipation!!

oh yeah!! I forgot about the rock hard tightening! And it was interesting how the "real" contractions felt like normal then super strong menstrual cramps...but I got my epidural after I just started to experience the ones where I couldn't breathe through them!

Oh WH didn't text to ask how I'm doing and now I'm miffed. Ha!
Oh, and he cancelled that camping trip, P, after talking with SIL's H. (I guess he spent the night at their house this weekend.) See, I'm still hearing a bit about him. But I'm steering the convo away quickly whenever they bring him up.
So... yeah. SIL pushed all the pressure points today; trying to encourage the little one out!
when is your next dr. appt? sorry to hear about lack of contractions so far...but at least you know she WILL be coming out! something is certain at this time!
