Yeah the umpire messed up but in a way that is what is beautiful about baseball---the human element of it (says the guy that did not lose a perfect game to some idiot umpire:)!) also his consolation prize of a band new Corvette was pretty sweet anyways!

The trip we are trying to put together is later in the summer down to Atlanta to watch the Cards there. I have a group of buddies that every year--going on 10 now we take a road trip or 2 and watch the Cardinals play somewhere we have a goal to go and see them at every park someday.

I think that would be an awesome thing to do with S2 if Baseball is something that he gets into as he is older.......

With a Dad as into baseball as you are, rest assured he will get into it as he gets older.

G--I hope so but one thing i will do that i am forever grateful that my dad did when I was growing up is not to push me into the game.

My Grandfather played ball for the Cardinals back in the day, my father played pro ball for awhile and so it kinda runs in the blood I guess, but---Dad never forced me to do it and hence my love for the game was MINE, not his or anyone else's. I grew up with alot of kids whose parents pushed them into select and travel teams and sure enough by high school 99% of them were "burnt out". I hope S2 loves the game and the only thing that I will "force" him to do is honor his commitment and take it seriously wether that be Baseball, another sport, or tiddly winks.

The only rule I gre up with was that i was going to do "something" and i was going to do it "full assed" as my dad said as oppsed to half-assed! HAHA!

Buffet,
Wow, baseball really does run in your family, doesn't it?

I've seen my share of this, too. Sadly, this kind of parental pressure is even more pervasive today.

Anyway, young boys love to love - yearn to love - what Daddy loves. You two will be playing catch and going to games in a few years' "blink of an eye," for sure.

Cardinals heritage, eh? My xH's grandpa had four brothers. Three of them played for the Cardinals' farm team back in the day. Baseball runs in their blood, too.

Hope you are having a nice Saturday! Started out stormy here but warming up already...

I heard there are flash flood warnings in Iowa. I don't know why we need to know that in Ontario but that's what's on the weather news anyway! Hey, does a farm team play after the milking and bailing are all done?

hey guys--pretty good day today. I have mentioned this before I think but a few buddies and I are coaching a baseball team this summer as our way of "giving back"---seemed more us than doing other (noble) but not us things like charity drives, etc..

Anyways--I had S2 this weekend and tried at first to find a babysitter for our games this morning but could not. So I ended up bringing him with mr to the game and thought I would have to stay in the dugout instead of coach, well as it turns out he had a GREAT time, playing with the boys on the bench and charming all of the mom's in the stands and what not. He made it thru and entire doubleheader and had a blast (also he ate his weight in fruit snacks, pretzels, a hot dog, gatorade, etc...) and he had an extra 10lbs of dirt all over. But talk about coincidence from last nights talk about baseball being "in his blood"!!

Days like this are great and even though I am a bit of a youngin and he is my first one thing that I am very grateful for in a weird way about going thru this ordeal is that I think I already have a real sense of "enjoy these moments". A day like this at the park with my boy is absolutely what I signed up for in the whole parenting thing!

Sounds wonderful, Buffet! Those are the kind of moments that get us through all this.

Buffet,
Sure sounds like a great Dad day. Enjoyed reading about it.
