I am still very confused about what you know. I am seeing a lot of half-formed conclusions and assumptions and very little that actually resembles fact.

I agree with Michelle. Stop dealing with assumptions that may be just causing you undue stress. Hopefully what you find out is nothing close to what you are imagining.
