I hear ya. I'm thinking that next weekend I really need to back off and let him have his birthday weekend the way he wants it, not the way I want him to want it smile . Instead of getting insecure as a result of my perception of him not wanting to spend time with me (and seriously, who wouldn't want to spend time with me ... I'm fabulous smile ... ok cheesie, but the self esteem is coming), I'm going to remember that his choices are about him, and his needs, and not a reflection of me. And really ... chess with my BIL is certainly a better choice than he's been making lately!
