Hey Barkley,

Just my $.02 but my W talked about getting a D and then an anullment and the C basically said that it was a very "healing" process. W hasn't mentioned anullment in quite awhile so I'm not sure where she stands on it now but she is leaving town before the D is final and I'm not sure if it is still in her plans or not.

At my last IC seesion, C mentioned that maybe I will want to do the anullment for me. Not sure how I feel about that but we can always talk about it in future IC sessions. I think it would shock the W if I did it on my own but that is not why I would do it. I talked to a priest and he seems to think that it would be a slam dunk for us. W was pregnant when we got M and we never told the Catholic Church and that is just one of 3 reasons we could probably get one.

It seems sad to even think about it and it has such a negative stigma in the world and people are very concerned about how the kids will feel about it because everyone thinks it means that you were never M which is not what it means.

Anullment in the Catholic Church means that your marriage was an invalid sacrament in the Catholic Church. You were still married civilly and your kids are NOT ilegitimate.

Best of luck to you!
