Kat we only have a 30% chance of rain today...radar looks like it is all going through Kansas and Missouri. Fine by me!
As for me, my temp is still 101, I am still achy, and when I breathe in deeply it hurts, like when you run outside in cold air?! Yuck. Plus stiff neck and charlie horse in my quads. Ugh! Going to dr. at 1:30 but doubt they can do much as I suspect it is a stupid virus.
Haven't eaten yet today, can't think of anything I would want to eat! The thought of a bottle of water makes me shiver, I am already cold! Spent the night sweating but with a space heater pointed at me for an hour bc I am so cold! Weird...
Not much else going on. Except I think Dan had a bit of a breakthrough. Good for him.
He took Nathan to practice baseball. Then when they got home they continued to play outside. I came out to watch them play catch and Dan says, "Nathan I am saying this in front of mom, too. No more computer games or video games until you can ride your bike without training wheels or you can catch the ball every time. Video games are rotten."
Ummm... 1)HE is the one who has a Wii, not me! And his mom...and my mom has a playstation. I am the only one who doesn't have a video game! (Granted he plays computer games)
2)Seriously, catch EVERY ball? I doubt any sub-pro-level players catch every ball...especially when I am throwing bc sometimes I throw crazy!
3)This is him once again trying to force Nathan into being the kind of little boy he wants him to be. Granted I agree he needs to get out and move more, and be on the computer less. However, baseball is one thing he genuinely enjoys. And he had a blast at the game the other night getting three hits. Even if he didn't field all that well...
So as Dan was leaving I stepped aside w/him and told him I did not want him to 'suck the joy' out of baseball for nathan by making it a requirement. I understood the need for practice but didn't want to go to extremes when there was finally a sport he enjoyed and was relatively good at!
So Dan left, the kids came inside to eat. Five minutes later Dan comes back to the house. Asks Nathan and I to come speak to him. Says, "I don't think it is fair to use baseball as a punishment Nathan. I still think video games are crap compared to exercise but it isn't right to use it as a punishment."
I spoke up and suggested perhaps me just make a rule that Nathan needs to ride his bike or play baseball after school, BEFORE he gets computer or video game time. Nathan and Dan agreed that was fair.
So, he actually backed down on one of his ridiculous demands...
