I think it's nice that he says that, he can picture himself there.
My WH is always refering to things without me. He will do some work in "my" garden, he will tell me what work "I" will have to do on "my" property in the future when he's not there to help me anymore, that "I" will have to learn more house maintenance, what "I" should do to "my" room. Drives me crazy, he leaves and then thinks he can tell me what to do, all while emphasizing his absence. I wish he would talk like your H!
Maybe the grass is always greener somewhere else, no doubt it's hard both ways!
