I keep looking at people's tag lines and it seems many folks on here (myself included)were married or perhaps together for a long time before having kids and now have relatively small children and are having marital problems. It seems like things should be stable once you've been with someone along time but having kids after just being a couple for many many years really seems to throw things off in a bigger way than if you just had kids a couple of years into marriage. Obviously, this is a gross generalization and there are exceptions galore but just wondered if anyone else had that observation.

I don't think it matters how long you're together before you have kids ... it's one of the most stressful times in a marriage bar none!!!

After we had kids, we became parents first and foremost. The relationship between she and I took a back seat. She and I stopped doing things together...just the 2 of us. We should have continued to have a 'date night', at least 1 night a week, but we didn't. Our kids became our lives, and we no longer continued to invest in the relationship between she and I. That was a mistake on our part. The marriage between she and I should have continued to be the number 1 priority.
