You're running for a couple of hours? Recuperation would fill the rest of my day...and probably the coming week. I'm trying to do half an hour of Yoga a day recently, that's enough for my tight muscles right now.
What am I reading? Well, I'm reading a book by Michael Parenti called "God and His Demons" as you may have guessed it's making the case for why religion sucks. I'm a believer but I read all sorts of stuff on all sides. In one chapter he argues that God's creation, the human body isn't so perfect and therefore neither is the creator...if he actually exists:

"Speaking of bottlenecks, look again at the body's lower region and note how the eliminative and reproductive functions are crowded atop each other. Male ejaculation and urination pass through narrow lines within the same appendage. And inches away, in case you haven't noticed, on both men and women there lurks the anus. As the joke goes, God must be a civil engineer, for who else would situate a major waste disposal system adjacent to a prime recreational site?"

OK, I'm off to the 6:00 pm church service now.
Btw, I spoke to STBX about Mother's Day and she'll only come to dinner if my mother comes otherwise she won't be there. She "doesn't feel much like a mother these days" but "I'm leaving you out of it, this is between me and the girls to settle". Hey, that works for me!

I shan't run for 2 hrs, but it'll be a 20 min cycle to the park where we meet and about an hours run together.

Sounds like an interesting book. I'm a non-believer but similarly always interested in the whys and wherefores of theology. My Dad did a degree in it, and it has always been interesting to hear his debates around the subject.

And agreed - the whole waste and reproduction together was never that attractive to me!

Hope you enjoyed church and glad to hear you're dealing with your STBXs spew so positively!

Sorry you're having such awful weather, Wii. We're experiencing lovely sunshine for the first time in a week. Yay! H is back from business trip, and we're going to take the dogs for a walk around local lake - 6km hike. Should be fun.

Being Me, I was driving home from the church service and snowflakes were hitting my windshield! Enjoy your walk at the lake, remember to stoop and scoop!
Lees, I used to be able to run 5 miles back in the day when I lived with W. It was one of the activities that kept me sane!
As for the book, I think you can make a case for or against Christianity but the bottom line is how big a leap does one see that leap of faith. Some see it as a incredible jump while others a very small one.

One of my courses this last semester was Religious Studies: The New Testament, and while studying the NT from an academic perspective, I realised something ---- for 2,000 years, people have been believing in someone, Jesus, even though most of them couldn't read the scriptures. And, the one's who could read it, believed even more deeply. So, there are arguments to be made about the details, but one thing is certain (in my mind, anyway) something amazing happened, and it involved this Jesus the Nazarene, otherwise this faith that people have would long have been lost to some other "god". Even Moslems believe that Jesus existed, even if only as a prophet.

I spoke to my girls tonight and D16 says STBX is still not talking to her. D16 said she made lunch for her Mom but Mom wouldn't eat it. Wow, STBX is on a roll, she's hot hot hot! Anybody want to start a pool, we'll bet on how long she can go without talking to her kids. I say she caves tomorrow because if she doesn't I'm not taking her out to dinner. The kids and I can take my Mom out without Giggles joining us!

Jesus is almost as popular as Tim Horton's (in Canada anyway)...sadly, he's probably not even close! I think churches would be overflowing if they'd just use Tim bits and double doubles for communion...but that's just my opinion.

Mother's Day dinner was a success. STBX started talking to the kids today, otherwise I was strongly considering cancelling dinner plans with her. We went out with my Mom and Dad to a Chinese restaurant and had a lovely dinner together. When the kids and I dropped STBX off she thanked D16 for making her lunch today saying "it was very sweet of you". So all is quiet on the Canuckian Front...at least for now.

I'm glad you had a good time with the kids and STBX. Quiet is good...

Twas the night after mother's day, all about the house nothing was stirring, not even a mouse...

Whatis is at home with the flu. I went to work this morning and then suddenly, out of nowhere it hit me hard. At least I got my presentation out of the way first thing and was able to get home before needing the washroom again! Now, it's lie around and rest, I'm not real good at that. Is oatmeal for lunch a good choice?
