BH thanks for that good advice. I am going to try the eliptical. I have cheated much on my diet, so I feel good about where I am at.

BH what are some other ab exercises besides crunches, that is pretty much what I do.

Forward you can get some reasonably priced clothes at Macy's on sale or some cute trendy young apparel at Forever 21. Cheap. You could even try used clothing shops too.

I have also been taking a fat burner for the past few weeks. Seems to be working great. I take one 30 min before breakfast and then at lunch.

BH what are your thoughts on supplements?

Forward I have been lifting with weights and am having great results. I am not anywhere near rippling with muscles. It has really helped me with the cellulite issue and toning.

My friend competes nationally, but she lifts heavy and follows a very restrictive diet. She is ripply. You can get ripply if you choose, but simple lifting will not do that.

LOL Forward, the only way you get "ripply" is with a super strict diet where your bodyfat is less than 5%, that is where you get that ripply look. If you have lower back issues, you need to be careful about sit-ups and the like as it will put pressure on your lower back.

Glamgirl, my thoughts on supplements are; most of them are junk and a waste of money. The biggest rip-off going is in the supplement market. I know lots of young lifters that buy the "metobolic" this and the "steriod like" that. Its all crap. Protein is good, if you buy the right kind. Look for lower fat content protein, go with a good whey based powder, there are severa; good ones out there. A good multi vitamin is also excellent. Other than that, I wouldn't use anything else. What kind of fatburner are you taking? If its hydroxycut or something like that, its junk. If you have a prescription fat burner, it will work, but watch your heart rate, they can cause problems. As far as abs go, try some jonda sit-ups, you can google them in to see it, also the deadlift and stiff-leg deadlift are excellent for building abdominal strength.

I like Designer Whey, but there are a lot of good ones out there... I'm just partial to it since it tastes good and back in the day it had the highest bioavailable protein content.

Wow, I just finished a workout and feel fantastic. I don't notice a difference in weight, but my clothing size is smaller now. That is a plus. Down side: I don't have enough clothes that fit well.

Really, DBers, this is a great way to feel good. Better than alcohol. OK, maybe not entirely, but seriously, it is a healthy way to cope with stress and your spouse might notice! And if your spouse doesn't, somebody else will.

I did not need to lose weight (although I am flabbier in arms and abs than I would like), but the exercise takes the edge off stress, puts me in a good mood, improves my skin, and, of course, adds some muscle. I am much more durable than I was even a month ago.

And--DBers, it is free. FREE! Or at least I have worked the crap out of this little weight set that I got for maybe $15.

I'm almost ready for the 10-pound weights. My biggest surprise with weight-lifting has been that it is not very time-consuming (plus!). Thanks to BH and others, I learned you do not need to lift weights daily; you can do it every other day or so.

So I don't have Mrs. Obama's arms yet, but I think it is possible that I could get there....

I should mention that this is also a 180 for me. I am not officially DBing any more (in that I am now dating others) but I think it's been a good growth experience, which is what DBing should be about.

And now a question for BH...I want to work more than just my arms with the weight-training, but I do not know a good routine. It has to be just dumbbells or something I can do at home.

Do you have any recommendations?

BH I take a multi vitamin, celedrin for joints, and the green tea fat burner. All from Costco. They all work for me. I do realize that the fat burner is not a miracle pill. I can tell the difference when I am on it and not. I take one pill 30 min before breakfast and then with my lunch. It is making a difference. I think it works because I am working out and also eating healthy.

The celedrin is working too for my knees. When I would sleep my knees really hurt. Tried this the last 2 weeks and pain is almost gone. Yeah!

Forward you can try bodybuilding.com site for great workouts, nutrition and motivation. I am using a workout routine currently customized for my age and goals. It was free too. smile

I love this thread and just wanted to emphasize for anyone going through the difficulty of marital problems, exercising is SO helpful. It's a great, natural, fun way to feel better and GAL. Get out there and sweat a little doing anything you like to do. I know this was mentioned previously, but I personally like Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, and her other DVDs as well.

Good Luck!
