Hey BA - The CG had some of the same bus driver uniform as the Air Force. We also had the Maytag repairman work uniform. The one I liked that we could wear was the Navy dungarees with bell bottom jeans. We used to mix and match a lot as the CG was not real strict on what you wore. When I became 2nd class, I used a felt tip marker to add another strip to my dungaree shirts.


I went TDY once and had to wear my service dress uniform on the flight. When I got off the plane in Chicago and was checking the status for my connecting flight into Rock Island, Illinois, this lady came up to me and started complaining to me about why I hadn't gotten the plane to arrive in Chicago on time and that she was going to miss her flight!

That is too funny that you simply got away with just using a felt marker to add a stripe for your new rank. We had a couple of Coasties in a NCO Leadership class that I took in Guam back in the early 80's. They were two of the most laid back dudes I have ever seen in a uniform!
