This has been really bugging me.

Neither one of my older daughter’s called me. I sent out a text around 7 pm commenting that I was really hurt by this. D25 got defensive, said she was sorry for having a life, and thanks for making her feel like [censored] on mother’s day. D23 Facebooked me a mother’s day greeting, sent a text saying she was sorry but she was busy with homework and would call me later. Never got the call, just another text apologizing because she didn’t.

At this point I am questioning my parenting. I mean, my daughters and I talk all the time, but all of a sudden they are both too busy to even make a five minute phone call.

I never thought I could hurt more than when the SG broke my heart. I was wrong.

Now the Tween on the other hand, made me breakfast in bed (runny eggs lol); coffee (tooo sweet), and it was the greatest breakfast I have ever had.

Well hooray for the tween! smile

As for the other two, when I was in college (20-22) I was probably self-centered and selfish. Doesn't make it right, though...At least the one tried to make it better, the other one sounds like she got pretty defensive which I used to do a lot.

At least you got breakfast though! smile

Lola, you can't question your parenting, obviously, or the tween wouldn't have been so sweet. That's awesome!

Sorry D25/23 were busy or had their reasons (like even just forgetting)but don't feel hurt. Know that we don't fully realize our parents' love and sacrifices until we become parents ourselves. Give them a few more years and you'll have a much closer relationship with them, especially true for moms and daughters!

Hmmm.... well, D23 remembered. It might not have been a phone call, but in today's world a FB greeting and a text is probably not too bad. D25 sounds just a little wrapped up in herself, though still pretty rude! Tween sure made up for some of it!

I think you probably should not have sent then the reminder. I don't know what the right thing to do would be, but the guilt card was probably not the right one to play. What would DBing do?

Thanks everyone, and Jeff Darling good point. I should have just not said anything, and they would have eventually remembered and then kissed butt.

Drop the rope...

LolaL,
It hurts. Let it go. It's the age.
I agree with VH, an fb message from D23 is just as good as a call in their tech/keyboard world.
And D25: Defensive+surly=guilt.
Vh is right. Let them feel their own guilt which they would have eventually.

Oh, and VH:

. I got One "Dear," two "Luv"s and two lunch invitations, so back off (he said, sounding as high-schoolish as possible!). grin
