Ohhh... single malts. One of my favorite topics. Right now my favorite (and a lot of other people) all around single malt is Highland Park 12yr. But if I want something more "after dinner" or winter time, Lagavulin 16yr is nice and oily/smokey, but kind of expensive. Otherwise Aberlour is a nice heavier sherry finished whiskey without being too "sherried up" like a Glendronach (IMO). I used to buy Knockando (which was way under valued at about $30 a bottle), but it is no longer imported to the US. That was very light and nice. I'll buy Glen Moray (as it's replacement) for something reasonably priced, but with a more peaty taste. And I almost never buy Macallan (or *The* Macallan, if you are picky), although I like their range.

Oh. You didn't ask me what my favorite scotch whiskey was? Sorry.
