I think the phone interview is a good idea. I think you can tell a lot, one way or the other, and the "risk" is low.
And, may I say, that in my opinion the guy that attracts BBJ is one lucky guy! Hopefully Jeff the Italian is at least not a creep! And doesn't make you throw up!
