I think it's just easier for the WAS to think that b/c they don't want you, why would anyone else either? Suddenly, the LBS starts becoming a prized commodity on the open market. WAS then is faced w/the thought of 'hmm, did I make a mistake?'. It's probably just a way for them to protect their ego.
