OK, I was mentioning at Sol's frat party (what a blast, just got home btw) that my church is holding seminars for singles on dating. Now, I have been pondering all evening how one would date like Jesus? I've scoured the bible and come up with words Jesus has said that might be helpful in dating situations. So let's get started:
How To Date Like Jesus
When you first meet your date introduce yourself as “I am the light of the world”
When talking about yourself say “I am humble and gentle at heart”
When your date asks about your career plans say “I have come to set the world on fire”!
When she asks where you're from say “My Kingdom is not of this world”
When discussing your hobbies say “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God”
If the conversation seems to be dying say "I saw Satan fall from Heaven like lightning!"
When she shares a problem, say “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Trust in God and trust also in me.”
When she tells you she’s scared of getting hurt again say “If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me”
When she wants you to meet her friends say “for where two or three gather together ... I am there among them”
When her parents don’t seem to like you say “If you love your Father or Mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine”
When you decide to dump her, hold up your arms and exclaim “It is finished”
So feel free to utilize any of the above in future dating situations and be sure to let me know how it works out for you. There could be a book deal in this for me (or a one way ticket to Hell but I believe God has a sense of humour...I'm really hoping anyway)!
Hey Dbers, it has just occurred to me that my above attempt at DB dating humour could be offensive to some. If so, I wish to apologize in advance as that was not my intent. Sol's party must have gone to my head! Anyway, I might just check out those dating seminars and I'll share any REAL insights I pick up. If none, then at least I will have killed a Friday night! Good night all.

No offense taken by this Christian. For me, anything - even cherished beliefs - is fodder for good-natured humor.
And I figure, re: the aforementioned post: "What would Jesus do?"
Laugh.

Thanks Gardener, sometimes my humour can get a little carried away. But I did have fun thinking them up though. I went to church twice today to make up for it.
Well, Saturday was D's birthday, she turned 13. We had a party at STBX's because D wanted a sleepover party and obviously my apartment could not be home to that due to size constraints .STBX bought most of the supplies while I supplied the cake, some water balloons and did the BBQing. The highlight of the evening, post water balloon fight outside, was after cake cutting when I looked into the dining room and found D13 stuffing chocolate cake in the face of one of her friends. Yes, chocolate cake was everywhere, all over the nice light coloured rug! I put an immediate end to this, just as the other kids were grabbing handfuls of cake! I couldn't believe my kid was insane enough to do that at her mom's!!! I assisted daughter with the cleanup while STBX harped on her about choclate stains on carpets (rightly so, I'll give her that one!). I took off at 11:00 pm leaving STBX with the sleepover component. On the way out I said to STBX "may the force be with you". It was quite the evening.
Even when I was married my ex was never really around for the kid parties with the friends. We did family parties separately.
Now we celebrate with the birthday child separately too. I took my son, daughter and dad out to dinner the other night as we celebrated son's birthday. his dad took him out for lunch.
But whatever works. Hope your D had a great birthday.
