Oprah is an idiot, she's deluded on this one.

Passenger and others. I wouldn't call Oprah an idiot, Dr Phil and Oprah have two entirely different targets and different points they try to hit.

There are some messages and products and concepts that Oprah would be better to deliver, while there are others that Dr Phil and others would be better to deliver.

For Affair busting, it probably would make more sense for Dr Phil to target.

Sorry DLS, the fact is that Oprah has zero professional background in therapy or psychology... she started working on a radio talk show when she was only 19 - she's been hosting talk shows for years

Phil McGraw is a professional psychologist/therapist.. he's done THAT for years...

Oprah has zero education in the field whereas McGraw has formal education and many years working in therapy...

Oprah in my opinion is not qualified to evaluate and promote these things compared to McGraw... Oprah will sell anything it seems.. while McGraw has thrown people off his show out of blatant disgust for thier indifference to human suffering...

Oprah's show isn't targeted to RESOLVE any CONFLICT during the session, it is just designed to expose it to public view...

McGraw actually tries to REPAIR damage in the visitors that appear on his show or in the case of offenders he exposes them as being destructive...

Oprah is a sell out... McGraw has managed to maintain some integrity...

Dr Phil would definately more qualify for someone fitting the role of a affair buster and a marriage saver.

He's done it for a living... Oprah has zero experience doing that sort of work.. I should think so!

I would further suggest that Winfrey appears to cater to McGraw as well... He first appeard on her show as a relationship expert :

Oprah Winfrey and the Dr. Phil show
In 1995, Oprah Winfrey hired McGraw's legal consulting firm CSI to prepare her for the Amarillo Texas beef trial. Winfrey was so impressed with McGraw that she thanked him for her victory in that case, which ended in 1998. Soon after, she invited him to appear on her show. His appearance proved so successful that he began appearing weekly as a "Relationship and Life Strategy Expert" on Tuesdays starting in April 1998.

The next year, McGraw published his first best-selling book, Life Strategies, some of which was taken from the "Pathways" seminar.[7] In the next four years, McGraw published three additional best-selling relationship books, along with workbooks to complement them.

As of September 2002, McGraw formed Peteski Productions[19] and launched his own syndicated daily television show, Dr. Phil, produced by Winfrey's Harpo Studios. The format is an advice show, where he tackles a different topic on each show, offering advice for his guests' troubles.

I see your point Daddy, but what I meant is that (I listened to the radio show where she spoke to her friend Gail) - when she said that OW didn't steal John Edwards, she just happened into a bad marriage and it was an attraction that they just could not deny, a powerful, spiritual force.

I'm sorry, that's an idiot. The man was married, if there was a powerful, spiritual force, she would have said "D your W and then come back to me, and we'll find out if it was meant to be." She would not have done what she did, which was sleep with him on the first date...

Oprah is upholding the Hollywood view of romance, that two people are powerfully attracted to each other and therefore there is nothing they or anyone else can do except allow them to sleep together.

I'm sorry, but if I were M and found that sort of attraction, I'd run the other way. There are many people you will be attracted to in a M, it doesn't mean you have to ACT on it. And if they were so powerfully attracted to each other, why didn't he D his wife (especially after they were outed and his political career damaged anyway) - and why did he pay her off with campaign funds to keep her quiet? Doesn't sound like "soul mates" to me.

That's why I said she was an idiot... not b/c she's not a very intelligent promoter of her "art" but because she's promoting amoral, incorrect behavior as spiritual and somehow a love story.

They actually said "spiritual force?"

If so...

Better yet... what kind of "spiritual force" promotes infidelity? lol

Not only are they romanticizing it, they are making it a holy act of god lol

It's very eloquently worded avoidance of responsability... Eloquent, but stupid.
