not excuses
facts
so I can't do a fast paced cardio but I can do dance and cardio like that because there are enough pauses for me to register if my blood sugar is getting low

nothing is better that bottoming out in a cardio class, having a seizure and having the medics called

dr says
no high paced cardio
I know you need to get your heart rate up so I was looking for some other things that might do that

I do weights
walking
dance
and Cori is doing hapkido stuff with me but I have to move at a lower pace so I can keep tabs on the sugars

I have brittle diabetes which means it fluctuates at a rapid rate...I can go from a high to a low in about 15-20 mins under the "right" conditions
so from 150 to 30
in 15 mins doing cardio is not unheard of for me
then seizures
and at least 15 mins for the sugar in juice to normalize me
then I am too tired to do do anything aside from sleeeeeeeeeeeep
because I just had a 10 min seizure

so not an excuse
just a fact
looking for a way to get heart rate up without hard core cardio

Jack and Figgeroni, must I watch EVERYTHING I say on here? LOL Figgeroni, I only asked how much weight you wanted to lose to help you plan a program to get there. You are a special case due to your medical condition and I only wanted to help! LOL I don't care what you weigh or how much you want to lose, and you shouldn't either! It doesn't matter where you start, its where you finish that counts! You can apply that philosophy to your life as well!!

BH, What about weights? Is it better to do heavier weights w/fewer reps or lighter weights w/more reps?

Forward, it depends, I have always done heavier weights and low reps. I like that philosophy best, less stress on the ligaments and joints. Higher reps will burn more calories, but build less muscle.

hope im at the right place,
was looking for a support board for exercise.. looks like it smile

I am making myself go to the gym. I really dont want to start again right now but I have to make myself.

Im getting tired of dealing with XH MLC..so Im going to try and do something positive for me and Not just watch as he is doing whatever he wants. Hoping that this will make me feel better and get out of this dark funk.

So I want to tone.. and get cardio back up.
I never did the weight lifting , I just did step, cycle and walking.

I already have a few muscles that I can see (lol) just want to tone. Im at 26% body fat ..and curvy so dont think the extra bulging muscles would look right or feel right...Im thinking just tone..
But am so afraid of buldging and loosing natural curves

Any advice how others are toning?

Brave.. it looks like from your post that I need to do lots of reps, Is this right?

jt2007, its a comon misconception that lifting weights will create large buldging muscles. What creates large muscles is a large intake of protein along with weight training. What I mean by a lot of protein is 2x or more than body weight. What tones muscles is a proper DIET, not a weightlifting program. You will build muscles and strength lifting weights, but the tone and shape comes from a strict diet. Either program with a good diet will get you what you want.
