Oh and the timing is what makes me suspicious. It is a sit-down with my 2 immediate supervisors--that has never happened before. That meeting with my principal to warn me I may go half-time was supposed to be with both of them but the ELL/Special Ed Supervisor got sick.
Also all of us teachers and staff are highly aware of the April 30th date. It has been stated repeatedly this year due to the budget cuts, that all staff being cut must receive notice by April 30th and it must be done in person...
It does sound as if they want to keep you, so maybe they are just updating you on what is going on. Go in thinking positive thoughts!
I am not sure that I will make it to Iowa this weekend. I know it is Sydney's b-day on Saturday and I have bookclub on Sunday. The next time I have the girls on the weekend would be the weekend of the 15th. Are you doing anything then?

BBJ, you should look into some contingency plans. I cover real estate and this year is the beginning of a three-year budget crunch for school districts across the country. If your job is in jeopardy this year, likely it's going to be in jeopardy next year and the year after.
This economy is a mess for everyone, but it's really going to hammer any organization that relies on property taxes.
On a more positive note -- for you -- your Cardinals are four games up on my Reds.

Re. contingency, I already submitted a request for transfer within district. That means that if another position opens for which I am qualified, they have to interview me before giving the job to someone outside the district. I am hoping to get a 'regular' classroom position but nobody is leaving this year! So I will keep watching and waiting.
There is a 4th grade special ed teacher retiring, who has been pushing me to take her job. She is upset with me bc I was interested but then realized how many more courses I would have to take to be certified for it. I can't afford another endorsement when I am still finishing up my ESL one! So definitely looking for something in my local district that matches my qualifications.
I think I could make it financially even at 1/2 time, my Starbucks and pedicure budget would just go bye-bye, I'd have to get used to the clothes I already have, not sign up for those boot camps, etc. I just don't know if they figure child support or alimony into it when you refi your house, though. Otherwise I would not make near enough to get a loan on my own...
When I got my car loan, they have a space on there if you would like to have those figures considered as part of the loan. I had to bring in a copy of the divorce to decree that stated that for them. I think you should be able to do something similiar.
