How about: Dan, Nathan has been asking questions lately since a friend of his parents are divorcing. I think we need to say something to the kids now. I would like us to talk to them together.

Nathan was telling me yesterday that Carter’s dad moved way out in the country and Carter goes there to visit him. Then he said “But I think his parents are getting divorced, not like you and dad cause you aren’t”…
About ten minutes later he says, “Nevyn told me that since you and dad don’t live together you must be divorced. But I told him he was wrong. You guys aren’t divorced, you are just apart”
Add to that Sydney saying again this morning for the millionth time that she wants Daddy to live with us, and I think we need to talk to them both…
That is what I was trying to talk to you about earlier this week but you had a lot going on…I would like us to talk to them together…
His reply?
Well that’s going to suck a bunch….
Sorry
Really? The sorry just gets me. If he had ever been truly sorry about any of this it wouldn't have gotten to this point....sorry is just a word without actions behind it.
I know. I replied back that I wanted us to tell them together if possible as this is a conversation they will remember forever. (I draw on that from friends with divorced parents who can remember what shirt they had on, what was on tv, etc from the moment they heard the D word) I did not acknowledge the sorry, what would I say? BC it isn't ok so I won't say, "It's ok"...
Simultaneous to his 'sorry' email I was getting texts from GG.
"Do you know where 'friend' lives? I can meet you and you can follow me if you need to"
"What beer do you like to drink? How about mixed drinks? Just trying to cover all my bases."
I told him I would have to go home and change after carnival as I will be reeking of cotton candy, he replies "Sweet...I like cotton candy!"
Such a weird parallel set of conversations going on...
