If anyone out there hasn't read "This Isn't The Story You Think It Is: A Season of Unlikely Happiness" by Laura Munson ... run, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore to buy it and savour every word.
Maybe ... but the point of the book is personal happiness and, as she terms it, the "End of Suffering". It's learning to find happiness within and for yourself and not giving someone else power over your happiness ... she discovered that and gave her husband the gift of compassion and patience while he discovered it, all the while coming to understand that he might never.
Holding onto anger to punish someone else, is like lighting yourself on fire to get smoke in their eyes ~ 25yearsmlc

Reading this book contributed to the detachment progress that I had last week. Like me, the author is a fan of Byron Katie, who teaches that our suffering is caused by our thoughts and beliefs. Laura Munson is a great role model for the LBS because she takes a very strong stand within herself. It's not really a memoir about reconciliation -- it's a memoir about how she dealt with her marriage crisis. She would have been an inspiration even if her marriage had not survived. I highly recommend this book. Even if her sitch doesn't jive with yours, you'll find that the mindset that she adopted is very helpful for the LBS.
