My parents explained the divorce to me when I was 5. we were moving back to our home town and they didn't want us to hear it from anyone else. My biological Mom cheated on my Dad when I was a baby, so the Mom I have is the only one I know. Never met my biological Mom.

Anyhow, I was really confused, thought my Mom had cheated but that he forgave her and they were still together. They had to re-explain it to me again when I was 8 and then I understood. Little did they know at the time I have a really good memory and can remember my Dad dating the summer I turned 2. So I would have figured it all out eventually.

Maybe keeping it simple but still truthful is the way to go.
