And you managed to hit a "pop culture" reference while I was in Europe! There's a hole from 95-2000 where people can refer to TV, music, American sports, and to some extent movies, and it's a blank for me. It's kinda weird, really!

Ack! This was supposed to be on MY thread.... smile

Busy week this week--I am social chair of my elementary. In charge of flowers/etc for bdays, babies, funerals, etc. This week I have to plan a catered breakfast for 40 associates and buy gifts for 10 support staff.

Also I am chair of Nathan's classes entry into the silent auction for their PTA Carnival Friday. Gotta put that all together still. We are doing "Adventures in Art" so we got a cute Melissa & Doug Easel, two family passes to the Children's Museum, and various art supplies. Now I have to figure out how to arrange it so it looks good!

Also this is my week to test all my ELL kids at school. Kind of like the state, fill in the bubble, tests, but just gauging their English skills. I am a nerd because assessments are my favorite thing to do! smile

Not much new in my world, kids and I spent the evening outside, we practiced hitting some balls out in the backyard (my yard backs up to an empty, grass-filled lot). I drove a handfull of balls, all went straight but one, but they only went 60-80 yards...it was weird using plastic balls but I am not wasting real balls if I can't find them in the neighbor's lot! (We did find 9 of the 12) Sydney cracked me up bc she said she could sure bat better at the real golf court. smile Nathan has a set of Hagen youth clubs so he was practicing with a real driver for the first time.

OK gotta to work!

Oh yeah, Dan stopped by last night to drop off Nathan's movie so I can get it back to Netflix--he took it to Dan's over the weekend. Sydney had just gotten a toy cell phone from a neigbhor girl earlier in the evening.

She says, "Daddy, I have been calling you on my phone to tell you I want you to live with Mommy again. I want you to move home and live with Mommy"...Dan just said "I know..."

Oh and my MIL called last night to see what was up Friday with the Carnival and who was watching the kids if needed. I told her that I had my parents doing it bc I was going to a bday party after. I couldn't leave it at that, I told her who it was for and that his wife invited me (even though GG invited me, I didn't want to share that with her)...Well lo and behold said wife works with MIL and I didn't know it! Hope she doesn't mention it to her. Granted it really isn't her business anyway...

What a coincidence - I just bought little plastic wiffle balls and was practicing golf in my back yard. I had to switch to using a tee because I was not too pleased with digging divits in my lawn.

OK I promised I would work but quick update--
My principal just informed me that we have a little guy coming in for kindergarten roundup (that means he will start kindergarten next year) for two days, and he speaks ZERO ENGLISH!!!!

I am so excited...........this is what I have been waiting for, a real challenge! wink The rest of my ELL kids have conversational English and don't really speak Spanish well at all...

You would be kept busy in the schools of my brother's city of Woodburn Oregon as well over half the kids need Spanish or mixed Spanish/English classes.

So along with telling Dan and I both that she wants him to move home, I forgot the other part...

Sydney was saying in the car yesterday, she didn't know how Aunt Bridget (my sister) could have 3 babies bc you are only supposed to have two.

This tells you how kids' worlds revolve around their own experience...my two sisters-in-law have two kids, I have two kids, my cousin who has boys that come play with us has two kids...most of the people Sydney knows have two kids!

I told her Aunt Bridget has two kids bc she wanted another child, that you can have more than 2 if you want...

She promptly told me that she wants me and Daddy to have another baby then bc she wants to be a big sister.....
