Do stop off and hang with your buddies. Now this may be totally obvious but I will point it out anyway. Try to avoid the beer on the way home. I can't speak for your personality but sometimes even one beer, for me at least, can make that ever so slight difference that something I might blow off completely on any other day...today, now, after that one beer I'm like, F it, you wanna fight let's do it.
Try never to walk into heated situations behind a few brews. It can make you more aggressive than expected OR it can make you totally weepy. Best to be in control

yeah, you're probably right about that. and considering the stress I've been under lately, I'm probably not as tolerant to alcohol as I usually am. If she is there, I would certainly rather have a totally clear head.

Yes she's that predictable, now you know it, now you can smile, women having affairs with other men will act like this to their husbands & bf's - that's just how it is. She doesn't want to totally let go yet, you're still good for a few things, like cleaning the house and paying the bills and taking out the garbage and sleeping on the couch so that she can stretch out in the master bedroom ;-)

yes I was going to say, let's not pin this all on women, men are just as predictable and have a $hitload of faults all their own as well, it's not a one sided story here, let's be clear about that.
oh yeah, I know that I've followed the same path as thousands, millions of guys before me. Do you know how many times I've read how a guy reacted or handled finding out about an affair, and thought to myself. . .good god, I did the exact same thing. The begging and pleading, promises, pouting, blowing up, apologizing, on and on and on. . .I know that I did the same thing over and over again, I'm just glad that I'm finally starting to break out of all of this and I'm surprising myself in the process.
and yeah, like I was saying to MIL. . .I'm in no way blaming my W 100%. . .this was a 50/50 thing. The difference is how we individually decided to deal with the situation that probably pushes the fault a little more towards her.
