Hi all,

It's been another chunk of time since I last posted. Reason being is that I didn't have anything to post about, per se. Been keeping busy with GAL and work mostly.

XW popped onto the radar screen this morning in the form of an email:

[Jimbo],

I hope you are well. I found some of your cards along with mine, such as your [Masonic] lodge lifetime membership and some other business cards that you may want. I've also realized that I don't have my birth certificate or Social Security card. I am applying to Graphic Design school and they need a copy of my birth certificate. Could you see if they're still in the blue "important papers" folder in the second drawer of the rolltop desk? I'm willing to come to your office to pick them up if that works for you. Not to push but sooner rather than later would be good - I'm trying to get my ducks in a row to start classes at the end of this month.

Thanks a bunch,
[XW]

Nice of her to do me a favor by returning my precious business cards that I didn't even know I was missing, and a dues card I already have, eh? smirk

I was wondering when she'd notice she was missing her birth cert and SS card...

Why the bit about returning business cards? Why not just say that she needs to get her personal papers?

Why am I still even asking?

I'm sure that the graphic design school must be a BS excuse- Don't get me wrong...I don't doubt that she wants to go to school. (She told me as much last time we met, but it wasn't for graphic design.) But I have NEVER needed a birth certificate to apply to any of the schools I've attended. The only times I ever needed a birth certificate was when I got my driver's license, my passport, and when I got married.

My XW already has her driver's license and passport.

I guess she has finally decided to carry out her plans to tie the knot with the OM.

Just another stake in the heart. This truly sucks in epic proportion and really hurts.

Jim,

Buddy,

You might be right, you might be wrong. The problem with being a very logical and deductive person is the ability to 'figure' stuff out.

But agin, you might be right, you might be wrong.

Just to let you know...I DID have to have a copy of my social security card and my latests transcripts along with a copy of my drivers license to apply to a school....if she doesn't have transcripts she may need a birth certificate as another form of ID

Thanks fig...I had to present all that stuff when I applied to school, too. But I've never heard of the birth cert in lieu of transcripts before, though. Also, she has college credit, so transcripts exist.

Speaking of never hearing something before, Jack- I am not familiar with your quote "If England is an Island....", so I Googled it and got many different results:

"If England is an island, two and two make four."
"If England is an island sinking, giggling into the sea, I can let it sink."
"If England is an island, can you please hurry the **** up and build that moat just south of Gretna?"
"If England is an island, Canada is a continent."
"If England is an island, then it must be beach."
"If England is an island, Take English 101."

If I had my guess from the above choices, it's hamburger D, but much different wisdom can be derived from any of these in different degrees. Which one did YOU mean?

Google...information overload.

It is a transitive logic problem.

IF A=B and B=C then A=C

I cannot find it word for word...learned it in high school.

If England is an Island
AND (This is the B=C that I cannot remember)
And Islands are all Land (again this part I screw up)
Then All Islands are England.

IF you could find it...I'd be in your debt.

Well, I've been holding off on posting, waiting for the other shoe to drop....and it looks like it's not going to (at least not until after I post this. smirk ).

Briefly, I got so busy at work that getting my XW's birth cert and Social Security card back to her went WAY down toward the bottom of my list of priorities until the 3rd week in March, when I remembered that she needed them before the end of March, and I was about to leave town, and not get back until the beginning of April. I hurriedly wrote her an email the day before I was to leave, explaining the situation and saying that I could drop them off at her apartment before I left (and while I was there, I could pick up my mother's Corningware that went curiously missing when she moved out. Of course I didn't SAY it exactly that way....) Naturally, she refused and stated that she didn't have the Corningware, and that it must still be packed away in the attic. Then she shot back a blurb about "If you'd rather me not come to your office, then you can either come to my office or we can exchange them by mail.", to which I replied that I had no problem with her coming by my office, but that she would need to do it that day- before I left for my trip at 5. She then asked me to mail them to her work address. I told her that I could do that, but that I'd really hate for her to lose these items in the mail, because it's everything that any lowlife would need to impersonate her and/or screw up her credit, or worse. Then I asked her when she COULD get to my work, and she replied, "I'm really busy and am not going to be able to get there before 6:30. So don't worry about it - I'll get them from you when you get back. I can make other arrangements for the university. Drive safe!".

WTF? If you could make other arrangements, why the contact?

It's been 2 weeks since I've been back: still no follow-up request from her.

LOL! "The world may never know."

Logic just doesn't stick to anything around here.

I'd stay with a simple WTF and just keep on keeping on.

How are ya Jimbo?
