I graduated High School in 93. Half of Iowa was under water that year! All the fields around my house were flooded, what a bad year...in Des Moines the Skunk and Raccoon rivers were out of their banks (I love those river names so had to sneak them in!)...

I like the Nishnabotna River!

Things were still really high when we came through, probably in August, though I don't really remember. There was a lot of water around!

Besides the Raccoon river forks, the Des Moine river has as tributaries...

White Breast Creek
Beaver Creek (we also have a few Beaver creeks in Oregon).

The state of Washington has many strange river names...

Humptulips River
Dosewallips River
Chumstick Creek
Skookumchuck River
Stuck River
Chilliwack River
Stillaguamish River
Walla Walla River (they liked this one so much they named it twice)
Duckabush River
Newaukum River (not to be confused with Niawiakum River)
etc...

I have family out in Walla Walla... always liked that name!

Jeff I cross the Nishnabotna frequently. Spring 2008 it was flooded for weeks, in many places! smile

I live on the Rock River! How's that for generic? smile

Actually, my boys are on it as I type!

BBJ, my S13 runs track. It rocks. I think I could quite possibly be the only freak jumping and screaming from atop the bleachers yelling during his entire 1600! Kind of quiet events, huh? I'm a soccer mom. We yell. Period.

And, about R... or a next R... I have to tell you, if I ever have a next R, it's going to be based on lust, dammit.

Well, I like your goal! smile That is prob what is helping me go slow, I am not overwhelmed with lust...

I really like R as a person.
He gets my wacky/sometimes witty sense of humor.
As a speech guy, he gets Literature/drama stuff that a lot of straight guys do not... whistle
He is so much fun to hang out with, the night we had dinner/movie I didn't want to go home! Had there been a coffee place open, I would have gone...

Physically he is not what I would call my usual type. However he is a fantastic flirt and I noticed when he came over Friday he was wearing shorts and he has nice calves (he is a biker and bikes the RAGBRAI (bike ride across Iowa) every year).

That's why I said I am going with the flow. Have to find out if he is a good kisser before I go and get carried away. wink

Thinking that over, not sure what my type is!?

My first ever BF and I dated 10 months in high school, my sophomore/junior years. He was a football player, weight lifter, loved Jean Claude Van Dam and Steven Segal movies (ok so he had ONE flaw! smile )...long story short he was hotttttt and built. Also smart, in the honors classes, and he and I read the same series of knight/adventure books...yep I have a thing for dudes in chain mail... blush Funny thing is he was very shy in the romance dept. He would write amazing love notes but it took him 4 months to kiss me, and we never ever did more than kiss...what a wasted opportunity looking back! smile Granted he is the one who lives back home now too...that is a case of lust right there...

Then there was Dan....6'3", 170 when we started dating. He was so scrawny, wearing 29"x36" Wranglers. I used to tell him his belly was inverted. He never was particularly 'ripped' but what he had was muscle due to working on the farm...I still think he looks good in jeans and boots although now he wears a 36. Looks better when he isn't so skinny!

R is prob. 5'7 or 5'8", he is def. not tall. He isn't fat but he isn't particularly buff, but then neither am I, yet... smile I am more excited by his mind and his humor and his flirty texts do get my mind wandering...

OK now I am daydreaming about men instead of working...why can't one of the Spartacus guys just show up on my doorstep??? SIGH.... whistle

Finally heading to bed and it occurred to me that I was 'approached' by three different guys today! wink

First, this afternoon college frat/band guy texts me. He wants to know how I am doing and what I am doing Saturday night?? (He actually texted me during my non-date with R two Saturdays ago. He plays at various clubs/bars in the metro and has often texted me the day of events he is playing, but those felt like texts he was sending to a group, "Hey come watch me play tonight at xyz!")

This time he was asking about me. So I replied back that I was great, but not sure my plans for Saturday and I asked how he was...he replied back that he was great, he was playing at a club on Saturday and wanted me to come see him. He said he had been hoping I would come out to a show. Remember, he has a gf as far as I know, at least someone he has been seeing whether or not they are exclusive... So I just said, "Sounds fun, would love to come see you just have been out of town or out with someone on Saturday lately..." wink

Then don't know if I mentioned it but Dan texted me last night asking if I could print out our checking register from the account we have had together forever, that we closed last May. Looking for cattle stuff as he was doing his taxes. I was up (it was 12:30) as I had been texting with R. So anyway I printed off the checking statements and left them in the front door for Dan. He sent three or four more texts after that trying to chit chat...

So anyway tonight I had the kids call Dan to say goodnight and as usual, I just gave the phone to Nathan and I didn't talk to him at all. Then 3 minutes later Nathan finds me in the kitchen "Daddy wants to talk to you". So he wanted to thank me for helping him out and getting the tax thing printed out for him. Just funny bc he NEVER asks to talk to me!

Then the fun flirty text fest with R...

Quite a change of pace from the last several months! Still I think working the track meet was the most fun of the day! grin

BBJ..I have a question for you..Do you still love Dan??

and please don't give me the "he's the father of my children so I'll always love him line" cause as a man, I don't believe that line...

to me..you either love someone or you don't..

Dan is a prime example of what old dogs do...they do what is comfortable to them..
