I would make an appt. to see an attny ASAP to also check out your legal options. If you really think about it, it makes no sense that he tells you that you can have it all and it all belongs to you anyway yet he still feels the need to check out his options.

I think CG is right and you should think about start gathering legal advice depending on your state's laws. Could YOU wind up paying spousal support or whatever even though he is WAH because you have the house and money? I don't know. Could he get half of your house? I don't know. Maybe in some states. Find out.

Yes, CG has a point about the legal situation. And I agree with her that it would have been appropriate to set a boundary about the dinner plan. A "bitch" wouldn't let the guy change the plan like that.

Because of my father's limited way of thinking (in other words, only about money), I checked into my situation back in January at his urging. H would not get half the house, nor would he get my mother's retirement payment that I receive every month. I don't think (based on math and stuff) that he'd be eligible for spousal support, especially since he's living at his mother's house (and would likely continue to do so).

I also looked into how long I would have to respond if H files for a D, and I have the information about procedure from there. I have not formally retained counsel, but I have a few in mind if it comes to that.

Ah, yes, the boundaries. I'll know better next time what to do if I'm in this situation with H again. Maybe that's another area I'll study this weekend. I'll also resurrect my inner bitch for nights just like that. wink

Maybe you should carry a cooler full of Sushi with you at all times.

mrbt--

OH MY GOSH! THAT WAS HILARIOUS!

I laughed so hard out loud that I made Boxer dog jump. In all fairness, though, he's afraid of the dust mop, and he runs from the kitchen if I even touch the oven door. He's quirky and fearful, so I guess it's no surprise that I unintentionally frightened him once again. Totally worth it, though!!

Your idea is worth investigating. Thanks for the suggestion!

laugh laugh laugh

Oh, and I almost forgot--I got takeout sushi and a new bottle of wine for this evening. Now I'm just waiting for my NBC Thursday night shows to start!!

Sushi and wine. The perfect combo.

I purchased a chardonnay called "Folie a Deux." It's very nearly perfect, as chardonnays go. Furthermore, folie a deux, roughly translated from French, means this: a madness shared by two.

Fitting at times, is it not? wink

You should, mrbt. You'll certainly enjoy it.

What a pretty afternoon! I left work at about 3:30, ran some errands, and came home. I had planned on putting on comfortable clothes and sitting on the porch to read, but I decided to pull a few weeds that were bugging me.

Two hours later, all three flowerbeds are weeded. They look so much better. I'm sure that I still have some touch-ups here and there, but I'm pleased with my progress. There's something really gratifying about yanking those weeds out of the ground.

Now I'm sitting outside in an Adirondack chair in the sun, wine at my right hand, book and a variety of catalogs at my left. Boxer dog is thrilled that the weather is finally pleasant, and he's even more thrilled to fetch the tennis ball.

The dark cloud looms, however. H texted today that he will call me over the weekend to let me know how his meeting yesterday with the lawyer went. I asked if he filed any paperwork, and he said, "Nope. We were just talking. Now I just have more info on the process." H is fully aware that I am not in favor of a divorce, so he likely has information on what it means for him in our state when a spouse contests a divorce. [Let's just say this--it's likely not as simple as he thought it would be.]

For now, I'm comfortable and ready to settle in for a relaxing night. I have some errands and to-do things for tomorrow, so I anticipate an early night tonight.
