Yeah, our group is slowly fading into the sunset. At least we did have one and a half restored R's, with Ali and (so far) Maria! I know for a long time none of us would have believed that there would be any. But you all will always be high on my list of friends, no matter what the future brings.
Alice.... I enjoyed it. It's clear that Lewis Carroll was taking something, though! I had a little trouble understanding some of the dialogue, but I think that was more me than them! Between the accents and the intentional wordplay, sometimes I didn't quite catch it!
As far as young kids, I'd be careful. It's a bit creepy when the doormouse pops an eyeball out of the Bandersnatch, and Alice lops the Jaberwocky's head clean off! Though he certainly deserved it! Oh, it's almost as creepy when Alice gives the eyeball back to the Bandersnatch, and he pops it back in! I think your kids might be a hair young for it, BobbiJo. Maybe you should see it first, so you fan decide. Oh, I saw it in 3D, it was really good that way. And Alice looks good in her armor....
I don't remember what S12 said about the waitress, but he definitely had a look on his face. He was good about it though. When we were getting ready to leave she said, "It was nice to meet you S12", and he said "And you as well" or something like that. I think I must have made a bit of an impression on her, I made sure I looked her in the eye, both the first time and Sunday night. I remember that long ago that seemed to be a really good way to get a lady's attention, without even saying anything. Perhaps it still works!
LMAO. I have never seen armor like that. It was definitely Wonderland LMAO.
The books weren't quite children's books by today's standards. Definitely a bit graphic at points. I did really like it. Although I also had accent trouble. I need to reread the books since a lot of the stuff I had trouble with was dialogue taken directly from the books (at least to my recollection).

Hi Jeffy...just cruisin' by for a quick Lemon Drop if you have one handy. Today was a good day, and restores my faith (a bit) that things are improving for Goldey. I take nothing for granted anymore. Ruminating on the past is pointless. Worrying about tomorrow is time I could spend better working on today's struggles, grabbing a minute here and there to boost spirits. I've got a lot going for me...time to get out there and experience it. Hope you are doing the same. Goldey
I think I will start a new thread in the next day or two, quite possibly my last one. I will still visit, but I don't know that I need a thread of my own, when I can go back to being a Wandering Poster! Sort of complete the circle!
I saw Alice over the weekend and I absolutely LOVED it! There were some dialogue snippets that I missed, particularly around the table at the Hatter's tea party.
And I couldn't figure out why the Hatter had a brogue that came and went. However, I read up on the backstory of the movie afterward. It said Johnny Depp believed his Hatter suffered from mercury poisoning, which apparently was common for real hatters back in the day. Hence the orange hair and occasional orange eyes...he also said he wanted his clothing and accent to change along with his moods. So the brogue indicated he was in tough-guy mode...
Ok probably more than you wanted to know! Of course with my love of all things knightly, I thoroughly enjoyed Alice in her armor and the battle with the Jabberwocky. Don't think the kids are ready for some of the scenes, though...
Hope you are having a good day! 43 and drizzle here...
