Not CTH but I will say that I listen to Dave Ramsey on the radio, have the Total Money Makeover book and record his show on Fox Business Network. I think he is amazing. Getting out of debt is like losing weight in that the concept is simple, but the follow through is not easy....

Thanks, BobbiJo. I listen occasionally on the radio. Good, common sense there. Not worried too much about current mountain-of-debt-like-never-before since house sale proceeds will wipe that out. Just need tools/skills going forward and hopefully lose my total intimidation and paralysis by all things financial.

If you don't know the concepts then Dave Ramsey's FPU is great. When I got out of college I read "The Wealthy Barber" and several other wealth building books.

My problem was W could never get on the same page financially. I wanted to save and invest for the future and she wanted to spend now.

If I ever get married again, it'll only be to someone who has the same financial outlook.

So I'd say, yes, start going. What's the old joke? When is the best time to begin investing in your retirement? 20 years ago. When is the next best time? Today.

FIBs, thanks for chiming in. I am pretty sure that in my sitch there was no OM. I snooped and snooped and snooped up until Christmas and found nothing.

Now, she was having conceptual affairs. She was Googling and looking up the only other serious boyfriend she ever had after I left. I wasn't battling an actual OM, I was battling the romanticized thought of an OM.

I found no string of texts or calls to anyone other than girl friends or family. Nothing on her FB. She started looking at Match in December. She was searching, but there was nothing concrete.

No. She replaced me with red wine, romance novels and sex toys. D11 found them under the bed. W said they were back scratchers. It'll be hilarious when D11 figures out what they really are.

No. W just kept falling deeper and deeper into a black hole and blamed me for her problems. Now that I'm not there I'm still getting blamed for a lot, but at least she's branching out and blaming other things for her unhappiness.

Saturday night was enlightening. The friend I was out with spent two years with W on a professional dance team. She said she can't remember W ever having fun or really smiling. She just always kept to herself, back in the corners, afraid to get involved.

She said all of my friends were shocked we got married. They figured I'd be like all of W's other relationships, five or six weeks and then I'd get bored and move on.

It's going to be interesting how W's life turns out.

Well, week two of Financial Peace University was very dddddeeeepppprrrrreeeeesssssiiiiinggggg.

It dealt a lot with how men and women value money and react to money and financial stress differently.

This was one of my bigger failings. When W and I met, I got her organized and helped bail her out of a huge financial hole. So I basically became the financial guy. As time went on, I rarely asked for her input and disregarded it when it came. And then I'd get upset when she didn't follow our (really my plan).

We were never a team, really. No wonder it didn't work.

Ha! I have too many to count!!! Prioritizing now...

I listen to it when I walk/run. Keeps me from swearing at the pain, and complaining about the effort required!
