Thinking of you.

Hang in there.

And I sure hope you said something to your family about visiting!

My MIL had a (temporary) psychotic break in the hospital once-- she had a wacky reaction to an antibiotic.

Do the doctors think her state is due to stroke damage?

I hope she gets better soon for all your sakes.

I appreciate all of your prayers and support. There are not enough thanks for all of you.

My mother still has no diagnosis and they are now talking about needing to move her to a rehab facility. They said she needs sub-acute rehab but Medicare won't pay for that. They will only pay for acute rehab and she doesn't need that and they probably won't accept her because she has no diagnosed condition. The case manager is working on it but they don't have much hope that they will be able to place her. The only other option is more in home healthcare but it will require someone to be with her 24/7 which I can't do. It seems like they just want her to die and go away. It disgusts me especially since I'm so helpless in this situation because I have no money to pay for the care she needs. She doesn't either of course so we are stuck.

On another note, yesterday when I came home from work Marc had a plate of uneaten pizza crust. I asked where it came from since I knew there was no pizza in the house and he said his dad brought it by and that he just dropped it off because he was going to be late for work. WORK????? So, because this is a sore point for me, I texted him:

M-When did you start working?
G-This week
M-Where?
G-Does it matter?
(gee...could he have been any more passive-aggressive with that response?)
M-(totally pissed off)Forget it. Whatever. I'll have to make it the state's business if you are choosing to be obnoxious about it. I'm sick of your bs.
G-I'm going to be putting money into the account but if you must know I'm working at ******* pizza.
M-See. Simple answer to a simple question. I'm glad for you, it's a job at least.

Yes, I was super nasty to him. In some ways I feel bad about that, but on the other hand I'm just sick of not being informed. It isn't any of my business where he's working but shouldn't he have just let me know he had a job? Maybe not. I just don't know anymore.

None of my family has bothered to show up at the hospital still and I'm not talking to them about it. Why bother? They either care or they don't. Obviously, they don't.

Grr....I though Dan was the master of passive aggressive interactions!

I don't think you were mean. I think you stood your ground. Good for you!

Sorry about your mom....I am not well versed in medical or legal affairs, but isn't there a law that they HAVE to provide medical care for your mom, regardless of her ability to pay??

I am sorry that things have been so stressful for you. I know I am a ways away but if there is anything I can do, let me know.

Hugs, kat

They can declare her indigent and make her a ward of the state. If they do that she goes to the state facility 75 miles from here and it's SUPER SCARY! Basically the patients are left to their own devices all day with no real therapy. Her entire social security would have to be turned over to the state as well as any savings she has. That savings is to pay for her final expenses and if I turn it over to the state I can't bury her in the end. Real smart aren't they?
