Almost forgot, speaking of my Mom (They need some kind of 'sigh-with-eye-roll smiley'!)
Last night I stopped by my parents' house bc Nathan wanted to say Hi and we were driving past anyway on the way home from his allergy dr.
Well she invited us to stay for dinner, so we did. Sydney was talking about her new Spin Brush (BIG DEAL for her!) we bought after the dentist...
I started telling my mom how I loved our pediatric dentist, she has an office decorated like a barn, very cool. I said, "She is from Southern California, cute, young, long blonde hair, and I can't believe the heels she can wear being on her feet! This time she had 4" heels in a zebra print. Too cute!"
My mom's reply?
"Well don't let their dad near her.........."
I said "Are you serious? That is so inappropriate. Nathan and Sydney are ten feet away..."
She brushed it off and said, They aren't listening to us. I said A)Kids are ALWAYS listening when you don't think they are and B)I don't ever want to hear her talking that way again...
So 30 minutes later I said something about speech bc they are taking the kids overnight tonight. She says, "How is 'Coach'"? She knew him from high school when we were speech kids together.
I say, "He is great."
Mom: Are you having fun?
Me: Yes, it is a lot of fun, wish I had done it last year.
Mom: Is he cute? (It took me a second to catch on. He was kind of geeky in high school and my sister had actually commented last week that he looked cute to her now--she had spoken to his govt class since she is an atty)
Me: Sure....
Mom: Is he married?
Nathan: (Looking concerned) Why does grandma want to know if he is married?
I just said, "No he isn't, but that doesn't really matter..."
Mom played dumb again and said, "I was just curious, I didn't know..."
I was so aggravated. I have told her before not to talk about any of that stuff, esp in front of my kids!
We left so the kids could go to bed, but I am a little concerned now. I hope she is not talking about my situation on the phone with her sisters while she watches my kids...
